Senior Vice President
Sorin Capital Management, LLC
David Busker is a senior vice president at Sorin Capital Management, LLC, a Stamford, Connecticut-based investment management firm focused on CMBS and REITs that manages hedge fund, liquid alternative, and value-add long-only strategies in these markets. Sorin currently manages assets for pension funds, family offices, and fund of funds.
As a senior member of the investment team, he is responsible for the credit analysis of real estate structured products and for equity investments in REITs and real estate-related companies. Mr. Busker’s experience also includes investing in non-CUSIP real estate investments including mortgage loans, mezzanine loans, real property, distressed debt, syndicated loans, as well as other special-situation investments related to commercial real estate.
Prior to business school, Mr. Busker worked in the institutional investment sales group for Newmark Grubb Knight Frank. During this period, he advised on over $1B of opportunistic and value-add commercial real estate deals across Texas and the Southwest.
Mr. Busker received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Vanderbilt University and a Master’s in Business Administration from the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin. He is actively involved in the McCombs community as an advisory board member for the student-managed McCombs REIT Fund, and as an advisory council member of the McCombs Real Estate Finance and Investment Center. Mr. Busker is a member of the New York Private Equity Network Real Estate group and involved with a number of New York-based commercial real estate industry groups. He lives in New York City with his wife Laura, also a McCombs MBA graduate, and two children.

Propel Financial Services, LLC
Jack Nelson launched Propel Financial Services, specializing in the financing of residential and commercial property taxes, in 2007 as a portfolio company of McCombs Family Partners. Propel’s first employee, Nelson, has served as President and CEO since its inception and has overseen Propel’s growth to 100 employees located in offices throughout the United States, Costa Rica, and India. In 2012, Propel was acquired by Encore Capital Group (NASDAQ: ECPG). Nelson now focuses on formulating Propel’s expansion and growth strategy, new production development, capital-raising, and identifying acquisitions – while still playing an active role in daily operations.
Nelson is very proud of the office culture that exists at Propel, which has been recognized as a Best Place to Work in San Antonio for the last four years, a Top Workplace in Texas, an ACG Central Texas Growth Awards Finalist, and one of the fastest growing private companies in America. In 2013 Nelson was selected as an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Central Texas semifinalist.
Prior to joining Propel, Nelson practiced law in the Austin office of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld. Nelson triple majored at The University of Texas at Austin with degrees in Finance, Business Honors, and Plan II Liberal Arts Honors. He also holds a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School. He is an active member of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO), a Board Member of Little Helping Hands, an Austin-based non-profit dedicated to promoting family volunteerism, and has served on several different boards and committees for The University of Texas and University of Chicago.
