The College of Natural Sciences administers the ALEKS test as placement for M 408K, M 408C and CH 301 courses. Please see the ALEKS page for more information.
AP, IB, CLEP, and SAT Subject Test Credit
Your academic advisor will review your credit by exam scores during your orientation advising session and discuss your academic goals. Once your scores are available, if necessary, your fall course schedule can be adjusted during add/drop periods throughout the summer. Please have your scores sent directly to UT Austin.
The Center for Teaching and Learning provides a list of tests and the scores required to receive credit. You must go online to petition for the credit to be posted to your academic record but it is important to consult with an academic advisor prior to doing so as credit can be applied differently depending on your major.
Dual credit is earned when high schools offer courses that count toward high school graduation and toward college credit. You must send a transcript from the college directly to UT Admissions to have the credit added to your UT record. There is no need to “claim” credit as is necessary for credit by exam. Once dual credit transcripts are sent, the Admissions office posts all credit to your record automatically.
