Texas BBA | Business Foundations

Halliburton Business Foundations Summer Institute (HBFSI)

May 30 – July 27, 2012

In addition to the regular single course format, students may complete the Texas BFP by taking courses in the McCombs exclusive HBFSI. The Institute allows students to complete 5 BFP courses in one 8-week summer session. Applications are available October 1, 2011.  Apply early to guarantee availability. 

Courses Offered

  • ACC 310F – Foundations of Accounting
  • FIN 320F – Foundations of Finance
  • I B 320F – Foundations of International Business
  • MAN 320F – Foundations of Management
  • MKT 320F – Foundations of Marketing

Due to the scheduling of the Institute, students enrolled in the summer program MUST take ALL 5 courses listed above. The classes are integrated, and admission to the program requires attendance in all of the courses.

Additional Benefits

Institute participants also benefit from a number of other learning opportunities that are not offered during the normal school year.  These include:

  • Team building opportunities through Marketplace and Stock Market simulations
  • Resume and business communications workshops
  • Mock Interviews
  • Etiquette Luncheons

Program Costs

  • Total cost of program, including textbooks, is $4,500 and is financial aid eligible.
  • Tuition Reduction Opportunities
    • Halliburton target students (those majoring in Engineering, Geosciences, and Economics) may be eligible to receive a tuition reduction of up to $2,000. These awards are based on merit.
    • The first round of program admittance and tuition awards will be made by 1/10/12 to eligible students. Applicants with at least a 3.5 GPA in these select majors will automatically qualify if applications are received by 12/15/2011. Our second round of admittance will be 3/15/12.
    • Housing is not provided but can be arranged through an on campus dormitory.
    • Cost does not include access to some University services, including but not limited to RecSports and UT Libraries.
    • Scholarship opportunities are available, and the program is financial aid eligible.

    Registration

    • Applications accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Apply early!
    • Up to 100 students will be selected to participate in the 2012 HBFSI with a rolling waiting list.
    • Once selected, a $250.00 non-refundable fee is due by March 1, 2012.
    • The remainder of the tuition is due by May 1, 2012.
