BBA Women's Council (BBAWC)
The BBA Women’s Council is the first women-directed undergraduate initiative at the McCombs School of Business. It was launched to create a supportive structure that encourages the success of women seeking to enter the business world. The program provides a forum for undergraduate women in business to learn about and discuss current issues and opportunities in the business world. Undergraduate women learn about the challenges women face in the workplace,
and how to prepare for success during, and after, college through the Council's roundtable forums, weekly seminars and other unique programming.

About the BBA Women's Council
Goals & Objectives
Gain awareness of developmental issues and current challenges that women face in their transition from college students to business professionals
Increase confidence in networking skills by connecting participants with other BBA women and influential female professionals
Gain insight into the professional environment from the experiences and career journeys of prominent business women
Prepare participants for success in the workplace by developing knowledge and skills that are often not taught in traditional classroom environments
Roundtable Breakfast Forums
Held each semester, the Breakfast Forum is a flagship event bringing together BBA women and successful businesswomen to network and discuss issues that impact working women.
Weekly Seminar Series
In this small learning environment, BBA women meet on a weekly-basis during the semester to participate in open discussions about challenges facing women in today’s corporate world and engage in activities that develop professional skills and enhance self-confidence.
WomenTalk Speaker Series
Held each semester, this special event is open to all BBA students and features a professional business woman who shares her career journey and provides advice on how to be successful.
Women’s Council members connect one-on-one with a businesswoman to hear and learn from their experiences in the workplace and share gained insights with other members.
Women’s Council members participate in on-site visits hosted by employers to observe company culture, gain a deeper understanding of their selected major and related industries, and learn about potential career opportunities.
Who Can Apply?
Any BBA woman available Wednesdays from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. who can commit to the seven-week session. Women in their second or third year at McCombs are strongly encouraged to apply! Check back in the fall to apply!
Members of BBA Women’s Council will be expected to attend all weekly seminars. The BBA Women’s Council seminars will be held each Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Legacy Events Room.

Nice Girls Don’t Get the Corner Office: 101 Unconscious Mistakes Women Make That Sabotage Their Careers by Dr. Lois P. Frankel provides an insightful guide to help women navigate the workplace. Through the seven-week seminar series, BBA Women’s Council will engage in open discussions and interactive activities with fellow members, industry friends and alumni to learn more about the “101 Unconscious Mistakes.”
Members of the BBA Women’s Council will be required to attend an opening session, seminars which will cover various issues for women, a closing session and two virtual meetings with a mentor. The BBA Women’s Council meets weekly from mid-February to early April. Meetings are held Wednesdays from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the McCombs School of Business.
