Interactive Diversity Forum
The Interactive Diversity Forum is a professional recruiting event set around a formal dinner and guest speakers. Held every spring, IDF is a chance for the ultimate two-way interview: recruiters get to know full-time and internship candidates from diverse backgrounds outside the interviewing room, and students discover how each company embraces and supports diversity.
The Forum is composed of a performance of two skits created and executed by McCombs business students. These skits will cover today's issues of diversity in Corporate America. Through discussion and feedback, all attendees will voice their opinions and engage in lively, thought-provoking interaction with their tables. Join us for an informational evening of networking and diversity! The spring 2013 Interactive Diversity Forum will be held on January 30.
Diversity Dialogue Dinner
The McCombs Diversity Council Diversity Dialogue Dinner, or D3, is an event that gives both students and recruiters at the McCombs School of Business a great opportunity to network. Held every fall, D3 provides a setting where corporate representatives and students are able to discuss actions the company has taken to promote diversity in the workplace. In addition, students will be able to ask questions regarding workplace environment, company goals, and future business opportunities in their quest to find an internship or full-time position.
The close, personal setting allows students to learn how each company’s awareness of varying cultures across the globe has been vital to its success in the ever-expanding global market. Finally, the dinner gives recruiters the opportunity to build relationships with younger students, many of whom you will see at future career-related events, and observe their growth as leaders promoting diversity.
Resources
Professionalism is crucial in your career search, and it's just as crucial at the McCombs Diversity Council dinners. The McCombs Diversity Council dinners are formal events, but the atmosphere is relaxed and your goal should be to create relationships with recruiters. Your should focus on gathering information, developing a connections with the recruiters, and above all, obtaining the recruiter’s contact information for future follow-up. You may bring your resume to the dinner, but please do not hand out your resume unless the recruiter specifically asks for it. More tips on networking, etiquette, and professionalism are included in the PowerPoint presentation below. Please review the presentation and feel free to contact BBA Career Services if you need additional clarification.
Please note that the deadline to cancel your RSVP for the dinner is one week prior to the event. If you do not cancel before this deadline and/or fail to show up for the event, you will be blocked and lose your OCR recruiting privileges. If an emergency situation occurs, please contact the event coordinators immediately to cancel your RSVP. Thank you.
McCombs Diversity Council strives to host events compliant with the state and university risk management policies. For more information about risk management, please view the
Risk Management presentation.
