LeaderShape's Vision: To improve society by inspiring, developing, and supporting more people to commit to "leading with integrity."
The purpose of the LeaderShape® Institute is to provide a breakthrough in the leadership capacity of participants and facilitators. This highly interactive and energizing program provides the tools to:
- Act consistently with core ethical values, personal values, and convictions
- Develop and enrich relationships
- Respect the dignity and contribution of all people
- Believe in a healthy disregard for the impossible

The purpose of The LeaderShape® Institute is to produce a breakthrough in the leadership capacity of participants and facilitators.
The Institute provides that and much more. This unique six-day program is designed to help students “lead with integrity.”
LeaderShape® aims to help students gain the skills needed to become great leaders in schools, communities, organizations, clubs and beyond. LeaderShape® will help you create a vision and bring your vision to reality.
The LeaderShape® Institute is FREE for the students selected to attend the retreat.
What will you learn?
The six-day program will teach participants how to:
- Create a powerful vision
- Build successful teams
- Implement action plans
- Evaluate personal strengths and weaknesses
- Communicate with care and impact
- Understand power and influence
The Institute does NOT teach:
- Dressing for success
- Winning through intimidation
- Manipulation or politics
- Mind Games
- Fad management techniques

LeaderShape® Mission:
To offer the highest quality state-of-the-art leadership programs focused primarily on young men and women in all settings of The LeaderShape® Institute; to facilitate their application through follow-up advisory support to participants and sponsors; and to be a catalyst in expanding leadership programs centered on leading with integrity to new audiences. We will have succeeded when graduates of LeaderShape® programs improve the quality of their respective organizations and environments.

The LeaderShape® Institute is an interactive, energizing and unique experience that builds leadership skills no other program can match. And since 1986, over 30,000 participants have graduated from our program from all over the world. But be prepared! It is six days of non-stop self-discovery and learning from practical experiences that build your leadership concepts and abilities. It's go, go, go 12 hours a day... And you'll love it!
The Institute will take place in a summer camp environment with plenty of activities such as basketball, volleyball, and swimming. You will also have an opportunity to meet with high level executives from various companies and nonprofit organizations.
The Learning Community and Family Clusters
You’ll begin to explore what leadership means and discuss its core components. You’ll meet the other participants in the “Learning Community,” and you’ll also join 10-12 other young adults in a group called your “Family Cluster.” As your primary reference group, the Family Cluster will offer you feedback, support, and help you develop and refine your vision for the future.
Daily Highlights
| Day 1: |
The bus will take participants from UT to camp. You will meet the Learning Community and get to know your Family Clusters. |
| Day 2: |
You will begin the day with the challenge course to solve problems as a team. You will also do a self assessment and begin setting goals. |
| Day 3: |
You will begin defining your own LeaderShape® project to help your cause, group or organization back home. In the evening you will have an opportunity to meet with corporate guests and hear about their leadership experiences. |
| Day 4: |
Bring your vision to action! Learn about the key requirements that will move your vision forward. |
| Day 5: |
Discuss how core ethical values, thoughtful decisions, and courage play roles in sustaining integrity and fostering trust and respect |
| Day 6: |
You will prepare to live and lead with integrity once you return home. |
LeaderShape by the Numbers
We have had 12 campus based sessions since 2003 with 684 student participants.
When asked if their experience at The LeaderShape® Institute greatly impacted them in a positive way, McCombs student participants gave an average rating of "6.38" on a 7-point scale with "7" representing that they “strongly agree” with that statement and a “6.46” regarding their belief that the experience was valuable in developing their capacity to lead.
Over 40,000 students have graduated the LeaderShape® program worldwide and there have been over 3,500 volunteer faculty.
