Alumni
Greetings from the 2012-2013 UBC President:
Dear UBC Alumni,
Glad to see that everyone has survived the Mayan apocalypse! I hope this message finds you well in the new year. On behalf of myself and the 2012-2013 UBC Executive Board, I want to thank you for your continued involvement and interest in the Undergraduate Business Council.
My name is UZ Zhan and I am the president of the 2012- 2013 UBC. Inspired from the Summer Olympics in London, Business Council's theme this year is "We are the Champions". Following the legacy of previous council years, BC has continued to be the face of McCombs and maintains a strong voice on the university level. Within McCombs, we have strengthened our relations with various organizations through regular presidents meetings and have developed strong ties to the new undergraduate dean, Dean David Platt. Most importantly, we have stressed BC members to become champions of each other. Whether it is on the academic, professional, or social front, it is the culture of our organization that makes present and past BC members stay engaged in each other's lives.
Now for an update of some BC programs. Our VIP Distinguished Speakers Series has continued to deliver top executives from industry leaders this year, featuring the CFO of E&P for BP, CEO of Sprint, CEO of Clorox, CEO of AmEx, CEO of Dimensional Fund Advisors, and CEO of Delta. Besides visiting the usual cities of Dallas, Houston, and New York, our Company Field Trip committee will also pay a visit to the rainy city of Seattle during spring break. Following cancellations due to budget cuts, our case competition is once again able to send the winning team to represent McCombs at the USC Marshall International Case Competition. The theme of this year's McCombs Executive Summit is "Big Data: How Companies Use Information". And lastly, we have once again gained full control over running McCombs' BBA Legacy Campaign, which will be a two week long program uniting all McCombs students to celebrate the accomplishments of our school.
Of course, external programs aside, what keeps us all coming back to UBC time and time again is our strong internal culture. Events like KKC, Informal, TTTT, COC, and Traditions Skits are still around, and legends of councils past are still being passed down to the younger generations. We all know that BC is special not because we just work hard, but because we also play hard and I'm going to make sure that is not forgotten.
As always, I am always open to suggestions, questions, or just to chat. You can reach me on my phone at 214-926-7859, or at UZZhan@gmail.com. It's been an amazing experience to lead this organization and its passionate members, and I'm looking forward to a strong finish this semester. BC is nothing without the support and involvement of its alumni. I hope to hear from you and see you at many of our events in the future!
BC Love,
UZ Zhan
