Become a BHP Ambassador

Since its inception in 1960, the Business Honors Program (BHP) has attracted the best and brightest high school students to the University of Texas by offering a unique pairing of advanced business curriculum and extra-curricular programming. The success of the program is revealed by a recent survey indicating that 50% of the students currently enrolled in BHP would not have attended the University of Texas had they not been admitted to the BHP. Forty-two percent of those surveyed also indicated it would have been less expensive for them to attend another university.

Due to scholarship funding constraints of being part of a public university, the McCombs School at best has been able to offer a limited number of incoming BHP students with scholarships of $5,000 or $10,000 per year. Starting in 2010, our scholarship need is further heightened by the loss of National Merit Scholarships at the University of Texas. The BHP has felt the effect of our limited scholarship funding with a decreased yield rate again for 2010-2011, as top candidates are stating that the McCombs School’s scholarship offer does not compete with the packages being offered from out-of-state and private universities.

Support is needed to ensure that the McCombs School’s scholarship offers are competitive and combat the loss of these top applicants. We invite our corporate partners to make an annual commitment of $100,000 for the next five years to help us address this critical scholarship need in our Business Honors Program. As an Ambassador of the BHP, the McCombs School would provide you with the following benefits:

  • Gold level partnership in the BHP corporate partnership program, giving you access to BHP students
  • Invitation to meet annually with the dean for an update on the McCombs School and the Business Honors Program
  • Placement as a Trustee on a corporate recognition plaque prominently displayed in the McCombs School and on the McCombs School’s Corporate Relations Web page
  • The opportunity to attend the McCombs School’s annual Corporate Recognition Dinner and meet the BHP scholarship recipients
  • Invitation to attend the annual BHP Advisory Council meeting with BHP Director and program leadership
  • Receive an annual BHP scholarship impact report
  • Eligibility to hold a meeting with the Honors Business Association student organization
  • Recognition as a BHP Ambassador at all BHP events
  • Your corporate logo and hyperlink on the BHP webpage
