McCombs Business Foundations Program

The Texas Business Foundations Program (Texas BFP) at UT’s top-rated McCombs School of Business is a certificate program designed to give undergraduate students of any discipline a fundamental background in business. There are three ways to earn credits toward your BFP Certificate and the new Business Minor (for students in the 16-18 and subsequent Catalogs):

BFP Semester-Based Courses

  • Open only to students enrolled at UT Austin
  • Complete 24 credit hours any time while completing your undergraduate degree
  • Satisfy certificate requirements with classes that may also count toward your UT degree
  • In-person and web-based classes are available

BFP Summer Institute

  • Open to any student enrolled at any accredited college or university
  • Complete 15 credit hours over 8 weeks during the summer
  • Participants must apply online and be accepted into the program

BFP Semester-Based Courses: TEXAS Extended Campus

  • Open to anyone, whether enrolled at UT-Austin or not
  • Take classes on a flexible schedule, entirely online
  • Course content is identical to the UT-Austin BFP Semester-Based web-based courses
  • Credit appears on your transcript from TEXAS Extended Campus, and is factored into your UT GPA but does not satisfy UT in-residence requirements
