The Texas Business Foundations Summer Institute (TBFSI) uses classroom instruction and simulation learning to completely immerse students in the core competencies of business. This intensive eight-week, 15-credit-hour program includes:

  • Business foundations curriculum, available in two tracks: Industry Track and Healthcare Track
  • Stock market and business simulations
  • Professional development 
  • Team building and leadership opportunities
  • Small class size
  • Resume and business communications workshops
  • Mock interviews
  • Etiquette luncheon

All students who are currently enrolled in U.S. and select international colleges and universities are eligible to apply.

Current UT Students

Program Costs

  • Total cost of program, including textbooks, is $4,950 and is financial aid-eligible. Scholarship opportunities are available.
  • Halliburton target students (those majoring in Engineering, Geosciences, and Economics) may be eligible to receive a tuition reduction of up to $1,500. These awards are based on merit.
  • The first round of program admittance and tuition awards will be made by 1/12/15 to eligible students. Applicants with at least a 3.5 GPA in these select majors will automatically qualify if applications are received by 12/15/2014. Our second round of admittance will be continued rolling admission until spaces are filled.
  • Dormitory housing can be arranged for TBFSI participants through the BFP Office. The approximate cost is $2800 and includes some meals.
  • Cost does not include access to some University services, including but not limited to RecSports and UT Libraries. Participants can arrange for library and RecSports services at an additional cost.

Registration

  • Applications accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Apply early!
  • Up to 200 students will be selected to participate in the 2015 TBFSI with a rolling waiting list.
  • Once selected, you will be asked for a $300.00 non-refundable deposit to secure your spot.
  • 60% of the remainder of the tuition is due by May 1, 2015
  • The remainder of the tuition is due by July 1, 2015.

  • Program may be financial aid-eligible. Contact your school's financial aid department for more information on financial aid. 
  • Dormitory housing can be arranged for TBFSI participants through the BFP Office. The approximate cost is $2800 and includes some meals.
  • Cost does not include access to some University services, including but not limited to RecSports and UT Libraries. Participants can arrange for library and RecSports services at an additional cost.

* To complete the BFP certificate and have it appear on your transcript at graduation, you must also complete three hours of Economics, three hours of any Statistics course and MIS 302F or equivalent. A list of equivalent courses is on the program website. It is recommended that these courses be completed prior to participation, but they are not required to enroll in the TBFSI.
