BBA Involvement Opportunities

Whether you are interested in reaching upperclassmen, wanting to connect to students for pipeline recruiting, or just getting started at the McCombs School of Business, BBA Career Services offers a variety of opportunities to meet your BBA recruiting and involvement needs. Opportunities are available through workshops, panels, diversity initiatives, event/program sponsorship, etiquette dinners, career fairs, job shadowing, and other career-focused events and programs.

Businessweek Ranking

Recruiters ranked the Texas BBA program as one of the top programs in the nation. The school ranked #4 on the recruiter survey in the Bloomberg Businessweek Best Undergraduate Business Schools 2013 rankings. The Texas BBA program has an overall ranking of #9.

BBA Career Week

Career Week, hosted by BBA Career Services every fall and spring, provides employers with opportunities to connect with Texas BBA students through a variety of career-related events and workshops. It is designed to maximize employer and student meeting time by condensing multiple events into a shorter time frame. Registration for fall 2013 Career Week events coming soon! Employer Panels

Through participation in the Employer Panels, company representatives connect with BBA students in an informal setting while sharing personal experiences and valuable insight into specific industries, careers and career-focused topics. The fall 2013 Employer Panels will be held on September 9 (Opportunities in Finance) and September 10 (Opportunities in the Energy Industry). For questions or more information, please contact Megan Fullen.

BBA Women’s Council (BBAWC) Roundtable Breakfast Forum

The BBAWC Roundtable Breakfast Forum (held each fall and spring) begins with breakout discussions on issues such as developing leadership competencies, bridging the gender communication gap, and achieving work/life balance and conclude with a networking session. Employer sponsors are encouraged to send up to two female participants (one or two years of work experience and beyond) who can represent the company and share information on the experiences of females in the business world.

The fall 2013 BBA Women's Council Roundtable Breakfast Forum will be held on September 10 (7:30 - 9:30 a.m.). Corporate Mock Interviews

The Corporate Mock Interview Marathon (held each fall and spring) is a great way to build your company’s reputation and presence on campus. Held the day after the Undergraduate Career Expo, representatives from your company interview students for mock positions and give the BBA students valuable feedback.

At the mock interviews, you can help BBA students refine their interviewing skills and give them valuable advice as they begin their job search. This also gives your company exposure to students of varying academic classifications and majors. The fall 2013 Corporate Mock Interviews will be held on September 10 (9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.). Employers interested in the Corporate Mock Interviews, please contact Mandy Kious.

Undergraduate Career Expo

The Undergraduate Career Expo (held each fall and spring) provides opportunities for employers to recruit full-time and internship candidates at the McCombs School of Business. This is a great opportunity to recruit BBA, 3rd year MPA, or 4th year MPA students. The fall 2013 Undergraduate Career Expo will be held on September 11 (12:00 - 5:00 p.m.). McCombs Diversity Council's Diversity Dialogue Dinner (D3)

The Diversity Dialogue Dinner (held each fall) includes dinner with BBA students followed by a networking session. The event provides companies the opportunity to interact with a diverse group of BBA students while sharing opinions and engaging in lively, thought-provoking discussion on current diversity issues in the corporate world. During dinner, one or two keynote speakers will discuss diversity in corporate America and ways in which students can prepare themselves for the changing workplace. All companies will receive the resumes of the students sitting at their table. In addition, Diversity Dialogue Dinner Platinum and Gold Sponsors will receive the resumes of all students who attended the dinner. Registration for the McCombs Diversity Council Diversity Dialogue Dinner is now open.

Sponsorship Levels

  • Platinum: Provides the opportunity for six company representatives to sit at three tables with students.
  • Gold: Provides the opportunity for four company representatives to sit at two tables with students.
  • Silver: Provides the opportunity for two company representatives to sit at one table with students.

BBA Women's Council

The BBA Women’s Council (BBAWC) provides a forum for undergraduate businesswomen to discuss and learn about current issues and opportunities in business through seminars, breakfast forums, WomenInsights, and the WomenTalk series. BBAWC participants learn about the challenges women may face in the workforce, how to prepare for success after graduation, and how to network with prominent women in business. We hold weekly seminars on Wednesdays from October 10 to November 28 and from February 27 to April 3. Dates for employer involvement are included below.

Company sponsors may participate as a panelist at a seminar or WomenTalk, sponsor or host company field trips, participate in WomenInsights, sponsor BBAWC member participation in an etiquette dinner, and network with undergraduate businesswomen at the BBAWC Roundtable Breakfast Forums. WomenInsights allows employers to connect one-on-one and share personal experiences and insight with BBA Women’s Council members through informational interviews.

Career Fairs

Undergraduate Career Expo

The Undergraduate Career Expo (held each fall and spring) provides opportunities for employers to recruit full-time and internship candidates at the McCombs School of Business. This is a great opportunity to recruit BBA, third-year MPA, fourth-year MPA students or MSF students. The Undergraduate Career Expos are open to all current McCombs School of Business students in the BBA, MPA, MSF, MBA and MSTC programs. The career expo will also be open to all current UT Austin students from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The fall 2013 Undergraduate Career Expo will be held on September 11Registration is now open! McCombs Global Career Fair

The McCombs Global Career Fair (held once per academic year each fall) targets top-class Texas BBA and MPA students for global internships and full-time positions. The McCombs Global Career Fair helps open doors to:

  • Opportunities for domestic students to work outside of the U.S.
  • Opportunities for international students to work within the U.S.
  • Opportunities for domestic or international students to work within the U.S. on international projects

The McCombs Global Career Fair, BBA and MPA Career Services aids employers by creating opportunities to speak informally with students who wish to learn about their career options or gain information about internships and full-time positions. For questions or more information, contact Mandy Kious.

McCombs Career Shadowing Program

The Career Shadowing Program is an unpaid, one day experience during which Texas BBA students are exposed to a professional business environment. Through participation, students will observe firsthand an organization’s culture and experience operations in an area of interest. “Shadowing” allows a student to walk through a typical day with a working professional, giving students a sneak peek into various positions and different careers. The Career Shadowing experience is designed specifically for Texas BBA students who have not yet completed a professional internship. McCombs Diversity Council

The McCombs Diversity Council (MDC) is designed to educate students about diversity and diversity-related issues in the workplace. MDC strives to create an atmosphere in which students are comfortable conducting open dialogue on various diversity topics. MDC also seeks to show students that diversity provides a competitive advantage in the increasingly global market. By building strong relationships with companies that recognize and value diversity, we empower students to become leaders in the business world.

In addition to the Diversity Dialogue Dinner (held each fall) and the Interactive Diversity Forum (held each spring), corporate sponsors are invited to serve as guest speakers at MDC general meetings (bimonthly on Wednesdays), partner with the organization in various community service projects, serve as company field trip sponsors/hosts, and to sponsor MDC member participation in an etiquette dinner. Target Your Future

Target Your Future (TYF) is a small group seminar series over eight weeks for first generation college students and minority business students that provides an in-depth education on career-related topics. Sponsors can get involved by serving as a panelist or guest speaker at a TYF seminar, mentoring students, hosting company field trips, and/or sponsoring TYF student participation in an etiquette dinner. Fall 2013 seminars are held weekly on Tuesdays from late October to November.

Etiquette Dinners

The BBA Etiquette Dinners (held each fall and spring) provide networking practice for approximately 70 BBA students with a networking session in addition to learning the do's and don'ts of business dining etiquette.  Employers are seated with students to share stories and give advice on business networking.  Sponsors will have the opportunity to give a brief introduction to the entire group regarding their company and opportunities for BBA students. Sponsors are encouraged to send up to three representatives. 

The Fall 2013 BBA Etiquette Dinner will be held September 4 (6:00 - 8:30 p.m.).  Current McCombs students from the Texas BBA and Texas MSF programs will be in attendance at the September 4 etiquette dinner.  Employers interested in sponsoring the BBA Etiquette Dinner, please contact Megan Ehrisman.

Investment Banking Prep

Investment Banking Prep (held annually in November) is designed to prepare BBA students to learn the skills they need to obtain an internship or full-time position within the financial services industry. Employers have the opportunity to present workshop and panel topics to students who will participate in Super Week (early January). The fall 2013 Investment Banking Prep Week events will be held in November (2:30 - 3:30 p.m. & 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.). Employers interested in participating in the 2013 Investment Banking Prep, please contact Morgan Medina.

BBA Career Services Message Monitors

The BBA Career Services office has several message monitors (HD video screens) in the McCombs School of Business. For employers with a BBA leadership program, BBA career workshop, or BBA related activity that you would like to include on the message monitors, please contact Megan Fullen for more information on posting and requirements. Your event must meet certain guidelines and posting requirements apply. Please review the 'Slide Creation Instructions' information and carefully follow the requirements for creating your PPT slides. Please send your finalized PPT slide to Megan Fullen at least one week in advance.
