MPA Enrollment
Enrollment for the MPA CIBER Programs is non-competitive. However, due to the high demand of the programs, CIBER utilizes a randomized lottery system. Please note that it is a serious issue to misrepresent your year for lottery purposes. Your MPA year will be verified and any misrepresentation will result in immediate disqualification from the program lottery.
In order to enroll, students must first enter the lottery:
- Meet the minimum requirements set forth for each specific program. For program specific requirements, please see the MPA Programs. Please note, meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance into the program.
- Submit your name for your desired program during the lottery period. You may select up to three programs in order of preference.
The lottery period is open between October 10 - 21, 2011. It does not make a difference at what point you join the lottery. The order of student names is not taken into account during the randomized lottery process.
- Following October 21, you will be notified of your program. You may select to accept your spot or decline it and be placed on a waitlist.
In order to accept your spot and enroll:
Submit the following items within 48 hours of notification. Otherwise, your spot will be dropped.
- Complete the MPA Enrollment Packet (6 pages)
- Submit (non refundable) $500.00 deposit. This deposit will secure your spot on the program, and will go towards your program fee.
- Submit one photo (headshot). Students may take the photo at the CIBER office at the time of enrollment, or email a photo to cibersummerprograms@gmail.com within two weeks of enrollment.
- Submit your academic advisor form to the MPA office. It will then be submitted by your advisor directly to CIBER.
How does the lottery process work?
Due to the high demand for the CIBER MPA programs, the lottery system is used in order to maintain the highest level of fairness in the program placement process. Depending on your MPA year, you will be assigned a priority level in the lottery process. During the randomization process, each priority level will be randomized separately to ensure that students are given equal opportunities with their peers.
1st Priority: Traditional MPAs, 5th year MPAs, 4th year MPAs , Accelerated 3rd year MPAs
2nd Priority: 3rd year MPAs
3rd Priority: students who previously participated in a previous MPA CIBER Program
The first 30 names randomly selected from each list will be given a spot for their first choice program. You will receive an email message from CIBER with your program. Students not selected for their first choice program will be given their 2nd or 3rd choice program. If you do not want the program spot you were given, you may choose to decline it and be placed on a waitlist for your 1st choice program.
