About EMIC

Effective energy management is one of the most critical challenges facing the world today. Over the last century, developed economies have grown accustomed to readily available energy at reasonable cost, but the increasingly rapid growth of the world’s emerging economies will test the limits of this abundance. Now more than ever, new business strategies and technology solutions are needed to ensure that countries around the world have access to reliable energy at predictable prices with minimal environmental impact.

With the nation’s energy hub just miles down the road, the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin is uniquely situated to serve as a catalyst for energy-related research and teaching that will contribute to the world’s need for innovative energy solutions.

Our mission is to empower leaders to more effectively manage energy demand and resources while enabling innovative technologies grounded in sound business principles. To achieve this, we will do the following:

  1. Create a professional network for effective collaboration;
  2. Inspire honest debate on energy management and policy; and
  3. Strengthen the education of tomorrow’s energy leaders.
