McCombs students Robert Hallenbeck, Eric Reinhardt, Jagpreet Singh and Elaine Hsu took 2nd place at the U.S. finals of the International Renewable Energy Case Competition
A group of McCombs students, including Texas MBAs Eric Reinhardt, Jagpreet Singh and Robert Hallenbeck and Business Honors student Elaine Hsu, took 2nd place at the U.S. finals of the International Renewable Energy Case Competition (IRECC) at UC Berkeley. Organized by Investors Beyond Borders and judged by a panel of CleanTech VCs, entrepreneurs and energy experts, the case required the team to create a business plan for a profitable, realistic, renewable energy business for the country of Macedonia. The team researched existing and proposed energy solutions in Macedonia, choosing to design a business that uses geothermal energy to augment the existing district heating system in the capital city of Skopje.
Other team represented schools including: Cornell University, University of San Francisco, Tufts University, UCLA (2 teams) and UC Berkeley. In addition to recognition for their successful plan, the team also won a $2,000 prize.
