The University of Texas McCombs School of Business has appointed three females to serve as role models for students looking to take on the startup world, university officials announced Wednesday.
Violina Rindova, currently the Zlotnick Family Chair in Entrepreneurship and Herb Kelleher Chair in Entrepreneurship at McCombs School of Business, will be the new director of the school's Herb Kelleher Center for Entrepreneurship, Growth and Renewal. Rindova is known for her research on companies including Google, Amazon and Starbucks, and she is the winner of the 2009 Thought Leadership Award from the Academy of Management Entrepreneurship Division.
The university also appointed Lauranne Jarrett, currently managing partner for G-51 Capital Management LLC, as the school's next entrepreneur-in-residence for the 2014-2015 school year. Her predecessor, Austin Technology Incubator co-founder Laura Kilcrease will continue to moderate the Entrepreneurship Live and Money Talks speaker series, which she started during her stint as entrepreneur-in-residence.
