September 16, 2014 - The McCombs School of Business and its Herb Kelleher Center for Entrepreneurship came in eighth in the nation in The Princeton Review's tally of the Top 25 Graduate Schools for Entrepreneurship Programs for 2015, which it publishes in partnership with Entrepreneur magazine.



September 10, 2014 - The McCombs School of Business tied for eighth place in the 2015 edition of U.S. News and World Report's undergraduate business program rankings. McCombs came in as the fifth best among the country's public schools. The University of Texas at Austin tied for 53rd overall, 17th among publics.


May 8, 2014  -  Despite soaring fuel costs and a glut of domestic airline seats, Southwest Airlines reported its 32nd consecutive annual profit in 2004. At that year's McCombs BBA commencement, Herb Kelleher, co-founder, chairman and CEO of Southwest Airlines, delivered the keynote remarks in a lecture entitled "Fourteen Ways to Be a Leader."


May 1, 2014  -  It was a bittersweet evening as students, alumni, and local entrepreneurs gathered in the AT&T Conference Center on April 22. On one hand, the audience received invaluable advice from business moguls Daniel Nelson, MBA '06, and Robert Reeves, MSTC '12; but on the other hand, they had to say goodbye to the woman who pioneered the speaker series.


January 15, 2014  -  The Longhorn Entrepreneurship Agency and greater UT-Austin startup community are hosting the 3rd Annual UT Entrepreneurship Week (“UTEWeek”) February 28th – March 6th, 2014. We host UTEWeek every year to celebrate and grow the entrepreneurial 40 Acres. Attending the 15+ UTEWeek events will give UT and Austin community members, especially students, the opportunity to share ideas with the community, learn from experts, and grow their ventures… maybe even start helping someone else grow theirs.


November 26, 2013 -  Sheryl Sandberg's book, "Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead," generated a lot of buzz and conversation this year, both positive and negative. If there's one thing that isn't in short supply, it's advice. Women are told to lean in, speak up (but not too much), turn around (but don't drown!), wait, don't wait (but definitely don't wait too long). It's like leadership aerobics.


November 15, 2013 -  Clayton Christopher kicked off his Nov. 12 appearance at The Herb Kelleher Center for Entrepreneurship with a disclaimer: "I asked if we could serve everyone some Deep Eddy Vodka, but I was told I couldn't do that."


November 13, 2013 - Clayton Christopher, creator of Sweet Leaf Tea and Deep Eddy Vodka, spoke to a room of entrepreneurial students and faculty Tuesday. Christopher shared his experiences about the early days of Sweet Leaf Tea, when he used crawfish pots that he filled with garden hoses to brew his tea.


November 7, 2013 -  Cotter Cunningham may be a CEO today, but it wasn't always clear he'd eventually reach the top of the corporate ladder.  "I was a terrible student," said Cunningham during a presentation on behalf of The Herb Kelleher Center for Entrepreneurship on Oct. 29. 

 


October 16, 2013 - When asked what he does, Joshua Baer, founder of Capital Factory, the largest startup incubator and co-working space in Austin will tell you: “I help people quit their jobs and become entrepreneurs.” The Herb Kelleher Center for Entrepreneurship hosted an interview with Baer as part of the Entrepreneur in Residence Speaker Series. Conducting the interview was current Entrepreneur-in-Residence himself, Brett Hurt who is also a Serial Entrepreneur and Co-Founder of ratings and reviews software, Bazaarvoice.
