John Adams retired as Vice Chairman of Trinity Industries, a Dallas-based diversified and industrial manufacturing company in March 2007. Prior to joining Trinity's executive team in 1999, he was chairman and CEO of Chase Bank of Texas, National Association. During his 25-year banking career, Adams served as president of the Houston bank; chairman and CEO of the Dallas/Fort Worth bank; and Chairman, President and CEO of a statewide organization.
Adams is presently on the Board of Directors of Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, Trinity Industries and Group 1 Automotive, where he serves as non-executive chairman. He also serves on the Board of Children's Medical Center of Dallas, having been chairman for three years.
Adams is on the Chancellor's Council Executive Committee, the President's Development Board, and the McCombs School Advisory Council at The University of Texas. He presently chairs the McCombs Scholars Program.
He is a past chairman of the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce, the S.M.U. Tate Lecture Series, The Dallas Plan, the Central Dallas Association, and Methodist Medical Center.
During the past 15 years, Adams has also been involved in a number of community fundraising campaigns. The organizations he has served include the American Heart Association, United Way, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dallas, Southwest Region, UT-Southwestern Medical Center, the Dallas Museum of Art, and the Dallas YMCA.
Adams received his BBA in finance from The University of Texas at Austin and earned his JD from The University of Texas Law School.
He is married to Susie Baker Adams, also a graduate of The University of Texas. They have two children and three grandchildren, all who live in Dallas.
