McCombs School Priority Initiatives

McCombs School
The priority initiatives of the McCombs School support our core purpose of educating leaders that create value for society. The Dean's Strategic Plan serves as a road map for the Corporate and Foundation Relations team when they engage corporate partners. The plan outlines Dean Gilligan’s key initiatives, which include:

Diversity in Business

In an effort to develop leaders who are well-prepared to enter today’s global business society, the McCombs School strives to create an inclusive and diverse student community. Through school sponsored diversity initiatives, prospective and future McCombs School students build leadership skills and knowledge of the global business world while reaping long-lasting benefits from an environment of growth, understanding, and enrichment that cultural and ethnic diversity creates.

Energy Management and Innovation Center

The Energy Management and Innovation Center (EMIC) was established by the McCombs School as a college-wide center of excellence to contribute to a better understanding of the economic, commercial, and policy issues involved in the production, distribution, and consumption of energy.

Jon Brumley Texas Venture Labs

Jon Brumley Texas Venture Labs (TVL) at The University of Texas at Austin is a university-wide initiative to support technology commercialization, entrepreneurship, and innovation, while providing a unique and directly applicable educational experience for participating students. The purpose is to provide the intellectual horsepower to promote new venture creation at The University of Texas at Austin through mentoring, market and business plan validation, networking, and direct links to resources and funding.

The Global Venture Labs Investment Competition, which is known as the “Super Bowl of investment competitions,” brings together teams from around the globe to compete for the opportunity to launch their new business plan idea.
