BBA Career Networking / Speed Dating
This once-a-semester event is one of our most popular career networking happenings. Experienced MIS professionals "speed date" with MIS majors, minors, and undeclared freshmen and sophomores. For ten minutes each round, recruiters share information about their company, things like including internships, full-time employment and corporate culture, with students. MISA Company Nights
The Management of Information Systems Association (MISA) at McCombs School of Business is a collection of students interested in careers relating to Information Technology. MISA helps to develop the future IT leaders of tomorrow by offering students opportunities to hold leadership positions within the organization. Company Night allows sponsors the opportunity to educate students on employment opportunities and general information about their company.

MIS 333K Competition
MIS 333K, Business Web Development, is one of the toughest classes in the MIS major. It culminates with an intensive six-week, team web-development project. Many students say the K project is the most challenging assignment of their college careers. When the project is presented in class, sponsoring companies are recognized for their support. Students are reminded of that support throughout the project and at the awards presentation. For participation information, contact MIS faculty member Rick Byars.

Ahmed Mahmoud, Executive Director, General Motors, IT

Ahmed Mahmoud serves as executive director for General Motors Information Technology. Most recently, Ahmed Mahmoud was senior vice president IT for Hewlett Packard, where he was responsible for HP.com and HP’s eCommerce technologies.
Prior to joining HP, Ahmed Mahmoud was senior vice president and chief information officer of AMD, where he was responsible for managing the company's global technology infrastructure to best meet internal needs and serve AMD's customers. Mahmoud also led AMD's Business Architecture and LEAN business transformation teams. Collectively, these teams were responsible for identifying and efficiently implementing operational improvements throughout AMD.
Mahmoud joined AMD in 2008, bringing more than 20 years of enterprise information technology (IT) leadership experience. Prior to AMD, he spent 13 years at Dell, where he served as vice president of IT.
Mahmoud earned both a bachelor's and master's degree in physics from Texas A&M University, and lives in Austin, TX.

Upon completing his undergraduate engineering degree from the Directorate of Marine Engineering and Technology in Calcutta, India, Romil Bahl received his MBA from the University of Texas, McCombs School of Business.
Romil began his career at Deloitte Consulting, then moved to A.T. Kearney. Here, he grew to be a partner and office of the firm, and held his last role at the company in leadership of the Strategic Technology and Transformation practice across Europe, based in London. He became head of EDS's (A.T. Kearney’s parent at that time) global consulting practice. Romil moved on to become a founder and managing director of Infosys Consulting. He also led Infosys’ global system integration business from late 2007 until 2009. He was named PRGX’s President and Chief Executive Office in January 2009. In the years he has been at PRGX, he has been instrumental in the continued success of the company.
Last year, Romil was named one of the most influential people in financial operation by the Institute of Financial Operations. He interviewed with Sean Farrell of The Independent and Bloomberg in a CEO Sitdown session regarding the turnaround of PRGX. In June, he was inducted as a new board member to the Carter Center, a board composed of representatives from the leadership of Atlanta and Georgia Businesses.
