This year, the IM Program hosted it's first annual Entrepreneurship Celebration, at which the opportunity was given to four outstanding teams to compete in a mini case competition. Here's what the winning team, Roomer, had to say about their app:
"Our names are Samit Patel, James Gu, Sally Fang, Tram Le, and Frank Cheng, together we are proud to present Roomer, a unique roommate finding application for UT with potential to grow to other public universities on the 3rd year. We emphasize unique because there are virtually no competition with our sophistication and price at UT. We all feel that finding the right roommates is tough and believe undergraduates at large public universities want an application to efficiently and reliably find roommates, a life-impacting commitment. We will launch a roommate-matching application, Roomer, on the iOS platform at the University of Texas. An in-depth five year projection which accounts for most prominent costs shows profits of around $100,000 dollars. We plan to use social media especially Facebook and Twitter to promote our product. The judges at the Entrepreneurship Event saw much need and potential in our product and congratulated us with first place out of 84 other teams."
