IM Advisory Council Meeting
Each year we hold our IM Advisory Council Meeting, which gathers a select team of top-level leadership from companies invested in the program. This year the IM Program is excited to announce another new tradition to celebrate great leaders and alumni who have impacted the program: our IM Program Awards. On the evening prior to the Council meeting, we held a dinner and recognized the following individuals:
Rob Borrego - BBA Alumnus of the Year
Rob Borrego is an enthusiastic supporter of UT and the MIS program at McCombs. Since graduating with his B.B.A. in MIS, Rob has spent over 20 years in consulting. After working for various consulting firms, he is thriving as president and CEO of his own consulting company, Credera. He's responsible for the leadership and growth of the company. Rob has never missed a Steering Committee meeting since its inception, he volunteers as a guest lecturer, and he spends a great deal of time on campus recruiting heavily from the MIS program. Rob also continues to offer his unwavering support to the program as both an Advisory Council member and the president and CEO of a supporting company. We are so proud to be awarding this inaugural BBA Alumni of the Year award to Rob. His hard work and support have been a critical part of the program’s success.
Romil Bahl - MIS MBA Alumnus of the Year
Romil Bahl earned his MBA at McCombs with a concentration in MIS. He now serves as president and CEO of PRGX. Before he joined PRGX, Romil co-founded and served as managing director of Infosys Consulting. He began his career with Deloitte Consulting, then went on to run EDS, the global consulting services business. He's held a number of senior roles at A.T. Kearney, most recently as the leader of the firm’s European strategic technology and transformation practice. Romil has been a dedicated member of the IM Advisory Council and PRGX has been a Gold Level Sponsor of the program. Recently PRGX was generous enough to fly in their CIO to speak as part of the IM Speaker Series in the fall. We are so thankful for the great support Romil has provided the program and are pleased to honor him as our MBA Alumni of the Year.
Tom Painter - Program Champion of the Year
Tom has been a champion and friend of the program for years. He first connected with the program at a CIO forum, and he quickly became involved with the Advisory Council and Steering Committee. He advocates strongly for continuously improving the rigor and quality of the MIS curriculum. Throughout Tom’s career, he has brought the support of his companies, and has eagerly recruited MIS majors. He is generous with his time, frequently attending recruitment events and sharing his wisdom with faculty and students. Tom has taken an IT Executive position at General Motors in Austin. General Motors recently became a Gold Level sponsor, much to Tom’s credit, and we cannot thank him enough for his constant support of the MIS program.
