Magdalena Bennett is an assistant professor in the Department of Information, Risk and Operations Management at The University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs School of Business. She teaches courses on data science for business applications.

Bennett’s research into socioeconomics, education, policy, and diversity has been published in the Journal of Computational and Graphical Statistics, the Journal of Labor Economics, and World Development. She has been invited to present her research at Microsoft, the Atlantic Causal Inference Conference, and AEFP Annual Conference, among others.

Prior to joining McCombs, Bennett worked as a senior research assistant at Columbia University in topics related to economics of education, and as a teaching assistant of microeconomics, data mining, and data analysis for the same university. She also worked as a research analyst for the Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) at their South American office in Santiago – Chile.

Bennett earned her bachelor’s in Civil Industrial Engineering and her master’s in Engineering Science, Applied Microeconomics from P. Universidad Catolica de Chile. She also earned a master’s in Social Policy from the London School of Economics and her Ph.D. in Economics and Education from Columbia University.
