Travel Tips

Hotel Accommodations

We have a special rate of 119 USD per night reserved at the Omni Austin Hotel Downtown , which is the same hotel where the conference is being held. We encourage all of our out-of-town attendees to reserve their room at this hotel no later than February 15th as there is a limited number of rooms reserved at our special rate. We've selected this hotel as they have free wireless internet access through out the hotel, including your hotel room.

For those that have not been to Austin, Texas before, we advise you to be aware that there is very limited public transportation. We recommend using the Super Shuttle to transport you from the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport to the Omni Austin Hotel Downtown. All those that are confirmed to be staying at the preferred hotel and have paid for the full two-day conference package will get free transportation to the dinner Thursday night. Please make your Omni hotel reservations at Omni Hotels' online reservation system.

Directions to the Omni hotel

If you find that The Omni Downtown (our preferred hotel) is sold out for any of your evenings, please use our back-up hotel The Radisson Hotel. Parking at the Omni

If you are parking for just the day of the event, we have a discounted parking rate of $7 per vehicle at The Omni. Please note that this rate does NOT allow for in-and-out privileges. If you are staying at the hotel, you are better off financially paying the over-night rate that comes with the room as this gives you unlimited in-and-out privileges.

VISA information for visiting the US

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will begin a new high-tech registration system on January 5, 2004 to fingerprint and photograph foreign visitors, who are required to have visas, as they enter through designated U.S airports and seaports. The program will exempt permanent U.S. residents and foreign visitors from 21 countries who do not generally need visas to enter the U.S. Those exempted countries include Andorra, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Brunei, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Singapore, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. If you are not traveling from one of these exempt countries, please be aware that besides holding a visa, you will now have your digital photograph and electronic fingerprint taken or verified upon entering or exiting the U.S. For more information, please visit www.dhs.gov/us-visit.
