Dr. James O’Connor earned his Ph.D. in civil engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 1983. He joined the faculty of the university in 1984. He also serves as the program coordinator for the graduate program in Construction Engineering and Project Management. In 2005 he was named Outstanding Researcher of the Year by the Construction Industry Institute.
 
Dr. O'Connor’s research focuses on a wide range of project management issues, including constructability, schedule compression strategies, design effectiveness, value management processes, and dispute prevention, among others.
