McCombs Diversity Council

McCombs Diversity Council is an initiative of BBA Career Services in the McCombs School of Business that began in the spring of 2004. McCombs Diversity Council creates an atmosphere that recognizes diversity as a competitive advantage by maximizing our multicultural resources and building a business school that more accurately reflects the greater global community.

The McCombs Diversity Council assists its members in becoming leaders in the ever-growing global market by building long-lasting relationships with companies that value diversity in the workplace.  If you're interested in becoming an active member of McCombs Diversity Council, please email the MDC Executive Board. Be sure to include your name, phone number, and email address.

Matthew Cheng

I am a Senior MIS major and Accounting Minor from Houston, Texas. I have the honor of serving as the McCombs Diversity Council’s Internal Vice President. I love basketball, soccer, music, film, and food. I look forward to meeting all of you at our upcoming events this year! Feel free to talk to me if you have any questions about UT, McCombs, Austin, or life in general.

Kory Yeh

I am currently a junior finance major from Houston. I love to play basketball (my favorite team is the Houston Rockets), soccer, and read the news. I have been a part of MDC since the Fall of 2012 and would love the opportunity to go into investment banking. An interesting fact about me is that I had the chance to coach with one of the real twins, Heidi Burge, from the Disney movie “Double Teamed.”

Professionalism is crucial in your career search, and it's just as crucial at the McCombs Diversity Council dinners. The McCombs Diversity Council dinners are formal events, but the atmosphere is relaxed and your goal should be to create relationships with recruiters. Your should focus on gathering information, developing a connections with the recruiters, and above all, obtaining the recruiter’s contact information for future follow-up. You may bring your resume to the dinner, but please do not hand out your resume unless the recruiter specifically asks for it. Please see the BBA Career Services BBA Instructional Guides or make an appointment with a BBA Career Services Career Coach for information on professional etiquette.

Please note that the deadline to cancel your RSVP for the dinner is one week prior to the event. If you do not cancel before this deadline and/or fail to show up for the event, you will be blocked and lose your OCR recruiting privileges. If an emergency situation occurs, please contact the event coordinators immediately to cancel your RSVP. Thank you.

McCombs Diversity Council strives to host events compliant with the state and university risk management policies. For more information about risk management, please view the Risk Management presentation.
