Must have a 3.25 GPA.
Application deadline is March 1, 2014 for summer 2014. Notification will occur late March.
The JTS BBA Summer Study Abroad Scholarship was established by Juan Tellez Sandoval to encourage McCombs students to study abroad early in their college careers. Originally from Monterrey, Mexico, he graduated from the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program of the ITESM High School and attended The University of Texas at Austin as an international student. Juan worked for the BBA International Programs Office as a Peer Advisor. This job gave him the opportunity to share his previous study abroad experiences (in the UK, Japan, Germany, and Denmark) to encourage other students to study abroad. Juan graduated with a BBA in Finance in December 2008 and is a very proud Texas Exes Life Member.
Only first-year students at the McCombs School of Business who are planning on studying abroad the summer after their freshmen year through one of the BBA Exchange Programs indicated below are eligible to receive the award. Students must have a minimum of 3.25 in-residence GPA in their first semester at UT. International students are not eligible to study abroad in their own countries (i.e. students from Mexico are not eligible to study abroad in Mexico).
The scholarship will be presented at The Texas Exes’ annual scholarship awards presentation or at another appropriate public occasion. A photograph of the donor or honoree will be displayed in the Alumni Center’s Legends Room when the scholarship is endowed and the scholarship name will be listed in the Hall of Honor at the Alumni Center.
Students must complete the on-line application at Global Assist by March 1, 2014.
The scholarship recipient will be requested to write a thank-you letter to Mr. Tellez Sandoval through the Texas Exes (information will be sent after award notification). Upon completion of the exchange program, recipients should send short follow-up letter highlighting their experience abroad.
