The Business Analytics degree is designed for highly qualified undergraduate degree holders in business, mathematics, statistics, computer science, physics, and other backgrounds (e.g. economics, operations research, and industrial engineering). The program begins in the fall semester, and takes less than a year to complete.

Classes are taught in the daytime, Monday through Friday. We do not currently offer an evening or weekend option and students should expect to be in class full-time.

We do not currently offer classes online and students must plan to attend classes at the UT Austin campus.

In-state Tuition & Fees: $32,000. Out-of-State Tuition & Fees: $38,000. Tuition and fees will cover the standard summer, fall and spring sessions.

While the faculty assignments may change from semester to semester, all courses in the Business Analytics program will be taught by our group of core and elective faculty.

There are no specific requirements, and as the program is new, there is no data from previous years.

Both your GPA and test scores, as well as your coursework, should demonstrate your ability to handle the quantitative nature of our curriculum. In addition, your resume, essay, and letters of recommendation will weigh heavily into an admissions decision.

No work experience is required. A required part of the curriculum, the Business Intelligence Capstone, is designed to provide valuable work experience to program participants.

Graduates will have a variety of career options in various fields, including market basket analysis, consumer behavior, social networks, recommendation systems, fraud and crime detection, healthcare delivery, healthcare fraud, health sciences (e.g. genomics), supply chain, finance, cyber security, libraries, and network security.

No, but you must submit scores from either the GMAT or the GRE. The UT Austin code for submission of GRE scores is 6882. The GMAT code is 396-44-45.

No, students are required to take all courses with their program cohort in order to ensure adequate preparation for their career.

There are no prerequisites for the program, but the program is designed for undergraduate degree holders in business, mathematics, statistics, computer science, physics and other technical or quantitative backgrounds (e.g. economics, operations research or industrial engineering).

At this time, students are not required to complete a thesis. Instead, all program participants complete a Business Intelligence Capstone in the final summer semester. The Capstone provides valuable hands-on, real-world experience.

As a result, the TOEFL or IELTS is an important element to the application because it is a standardized, objective measurement by which applicants can demonstrate their ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.

Your degree must be comparable to a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in the United States. The Graduate and International Admissions Center will determine eligibility at the time of application.
