Texas Venture Labs
Texas Venture Labs at The University of Texas at Austin is a campus-wide initiative with two missions:
Texas Venture Labs connects local start-up companies with talented, entrepreneurial graduate students from the MBA, Law, Engineering, and Natural Sciences programs to conduct special projects that help move businesses forward. Teams of four to six students interact closely with the entrepreneur and/or investors to make an immediate, direct impact during their engagement. TVL teams have conducted successful market validation, financial analysis, business model assessment, competitive analysis and due diligence review projects.
In addition to the Texas Venture Labs class, the organization is also the home to the Venture Labs Investment Competition (formerly Moot Corp), which has been dubbed the "Super Bowl of Investment Competitions." It features 40 teams who gain eligibility by winning a regional new venture competition in the U.S. or internationally. The teams hail from over a dozen countries, including the U.S., Thailand, Norway and Brazil. They'll compete over two days to determine the global champion.
Texas Venture Labs also holds two special events each year that help connect the Central Texas business community with the UT Austin entrepreneurial ecosystem:
Venture Week - Occurs during the Global Venture Labs Investment Competition and concludes with Venture Expo. The week's events include: educational tracks for those interested in cultivating more innovation back home, guest speakers, breakout sessions featuring domain experts across multiple subjects, and a showcase of entrepreneurs and startups from the UT ecosystem.
