29th Most Cited Private Law Article

John Allison’s article “Empirical Evidence on the Validity of Litigated Patents,” 26 AIPLA Q.J. 185 (1998) with Mark Lemley of Stanford was recently noted to be the 29th most cited private law article of the past 25 years.

Meakin Receives MBA Teaching Award

Each year the students in MBA Programs at McCombs vote for the Most Outstanding Professor in their program. The Texas Evening MBA class of 2012 awarded this distinction to BGS faculty member, Christopher Meakin. The Texas MBA at Houston class of 2012 also gave awarded Christopher jointly with two other McCombs faculty members. Previously, the Texas MBA at Mexico City classes of 2010 and 2011 gave Christopher their Outstanding Professor recognition. He has been on the full-time MBA Faculty honor roll every year since 2003.

Professor Cross Honored at Book Fest

On February 7, the UT Law School held a book fest honoring Professor Frank Cross’s new Stanford University Press book “The Failed Promise of Originalism." Stefanie Lindquist, Lawrence Solum (Georgetown), and Stephen Griffin (Tulane) participated in the discussion of Professor Cross' new book.

BGS Lecturer Drew Thornley was recently featured in a McCombs Today article about his "Business of Brisket." The article is a great write-up that shows how some of our faculty don't just teach business. Some of them are also successful entrepreneurs outside of the McCombs world.

BGS faculty members Dean Bredeson, Fran Pedersen, and Robert Prentice were named to the Fall 2013 Undergraduate Faculty Honor Roll in a ceremony on October 21st.

Pedersen, Bredeson, & Prentice Named To Honor Roll

BGS faculty members Fran Pedersen, Dean Bredeson, and Robert Prentice were named to the Undergraduate Business Council Faculty Honor Roll at the McCombs Honors Convocation on April. 12

The BGS Department’s Business Law Group was just named the #8 undergraduate business law program in the nation. Bloomberg Businessweek asked undergraduate business students from this year’s graduating class to rate their school’s programs. This ranking nicely supplements the McCombs School’s #6 ranking in business ethics education.

McCombs and BGS Host SBE Conference

On May 22-23, with the generous support of the Bates Family Foundation, the BGS Department hosted scholars from Harvard, Stanford Northwestern, Duke, and other top business schools at the 13th annual Strategy and the Business Environment Conference. BGS faculty members Brian Richter, Tim Werner, and Dave Spence participated in presenting and critiquing papers researching the strategic intersection of business activity and government regulation.

The McCombs School was recently named the sixth best business school in the nation for ethics education. A lot of that credit goes to the BGS faculty members who teach ethics to every single undergraduate business student.

Christopher Meakin Outstanding Faculty Award

Christopher Meakin received the Outstanding Faculty Award from the Mexico City EMBA class of 2013. He was selected as the professor who provided the class with the most memorable academic experience during the program.

Professor Stephanie Jue Gives Faculty Research Publication

On March 6th 2013, Professor Stephanie Jue gave a Faculty Research Presentation entitled “The Value of Nature’s Services: Accessing the Economic Cost of Human Impact.”
