Allison Presents Paper on Software Patents

On November 16, 2012 Professor John Allison presented a paper entitled “Improving Software Patent Quality by Creating Tools to Estimate the Probability of Enablement" at a conference focused on “Fixing the Problems with Software Patents” hosted by Santa Clara University. Allison, one of the nation’s leading experts on software parents, emphasized the need for a clear definition of a software patent and presented a definition that he has developed.


Allison Presents at WSC Meeting

The world’s leading semiconductor industry associations – in China, Chinese Taipei, Europe, Japan, Korea and the United States – held the 16th meeting of the World Semiconductor Council (WSC) today. The WSC heard a presentation from Dr. John Allison of the McCombs School of Business, University of Texas at Austin regarding his recently released study on "The Effect of NPE Patent Litigation on the Semiconductor Industry."


Professor Allison presented a paper titled, "New Evidence on Patent Litigation Outcomes Across Industries," at the "PatCon4" conference at the University of San Diego, San Diego, CA, April 4, 2014. The Patent Conference is the largest annual conference for patent scholars in the world.

Professor Allison recently presented a paper titled, "Deep Mining Patent Litigation," at the University of Texas School of Law conference, "Steps Toward Evidence-Based IP," on January 24, 2014. Various invited scholars presented at the symposium sponsored by the Texas Law Review.
