Subiendo Longhorn Chapter
Subiendo Longhorn Chapter is a student organization which brings together dedicated and motivated college students for an unforgettable leadership development experience. Students have the opportunity to address real-world challenges with today’s top business, political, non-profit, and educational leaders.
Subiendo Longhorn Chapter is in its first year and has been created at the University of Texas at Austin to prepare new leaders to address the needs of the next generation.
SLC is open to students who are currently enrolled at the University of Texas at Austin. This organization will reconnect past Team Leaders and Participants of the Subiendo: The Academy for Rising Leaders, which instilled an enthusiasm to believe in their potential and aspire to lead.
You can join others in supporting the Subiendo Longhorn Chapter and the next generation of leaders in Texas.
Organization Highlights
The Subiendo Longhorn Chapter centers around four primary functions: education, networking, volunteering and mentoring. We believe these four functions will become a key part of further developing leadership skills in order to become successful professionals.
Students have multiple ways in participating in the student organization: attending general meetings that encompass workshops tailored to providing a good resource on professional interactions (resume building, cover letters, internship how-tos). Also throughout the semester students can attend Leadership Dinners with today’s top business, political, non-profit, and educational leaders. Students will also learn the importance of giving back through volunteering across Austin and mentoring incoming freshman. At the end of each semester students can demonstrate their professional skills at a networking banquet.

Why now? Why a student group?
Fall 2012 is the first year where a substantial number of Subiendo alums will be enrolling in the University of Texas at Austin. The Subiendo Longhorn Chapter hopes to create a home for these incoming students, connecting them to upper-class mentors and University resources. This relationship will deepen as both incoming and returning students participate in intensive leadership training, harnessing their networking and professional skills. The network also gives students a chance to take on leadership positions, planning volunteer activities, reaching out to speakers and workshop facilitators, and helping to support the Subiendo Academy. The Subiendo Longhorn Chapter takes the already strong networking on social media and places it in the real world to effect positive change at the University of Texas.
