The Texas MBA program is recognized for its collaborative environment. Before classes even begin, students connect at their Austin Intensive - a week-long seminar based in Austin. During the school year you'll connect with your classmates on a plethora of projects and travel with them on a Global Study Tour
Campus Location
Classes are held on alternating weekends at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, which boasts exceptional classroom facilities, lounges, study space, parking, and dining areas. The location gives students an ideal environment for knowledge sharing, studying, and networking, allowing you to maximize your experience in the program.
Residential Component
While optional, all incoming students are strongly encouraged to participate in the residency program during their first year in the program. Former students have found the residency program greatly enhances their experience in the program. It cuts down on commute time, fosters a more immersive environment, and creates additional opportunities to network with faculty and classmates. Our hotel in Dallas is Rosewood Crescent Hotel.
If students opt into the residential component for regular class weekends, there will be an additional program fee.
Cohort System
The Texas MBA at Dallas/Fort Worth program curriculum is structured in a lockstep, cohort-based format, so you'll build strong bonds with your classmates as you move through each class in the program. During the first Austin Intensive Seminar, students are assigned to cohorts of approximately 30-60 students determined by the program staff. All students will be assigned a cohort in which each student will take all their courses. The cohorts are created with diversity in mind, drawing on the complementary cultural, professional, and social backgrounds of each incoming class.
Study Groups
An integral part of the overall academic experience is assignment to a study group of four to six students within the cohort. These teams facilitate cross-functional and cooperative problem solving, while bringing together managers from a diverse mixture of backgrounds, functional expertise, cultures, undergraduate education, and industry expertise. The curriculum is designed to encourage students to learn as much from each other as their coursework and professors. Groups are assigned by the program staff for the first semester and students can change groups and self-select for the remainder of the semesters.
Mentor Program
The intent of the mentor program is to foster relationships between classes by providing incoming students with a current student contact they can seek for questions, guidance and advice regarding their first year in the MBA journey. All students will be assigned a peer mentor prior to the Austin Intensive week. Mentors are encouraged to contact their mentees and student pairs are encouraged to meet as needed during the year and hopefully beyond as alums.
