Student Organizations
Student organizations are an excellent opportunity to develop and demonstrate leadership skills while connecting with industry leaders. Depending on the interests and goals of each class of MBA students, a number of student organizations form each year to further professional development opportunities, serve the university or build social networks. Below is a sample of some of the organizations that have been the most popular in past years.
Class Coordinating Committee
Each class nominates some of their classmates to join the Class Coordinating Committee (CCC). The mission of the CCC is to promote class camaraderie by organizing and raising funds to support student-sponsored Texas EMBA traditions. For example, the CCC coordinates the graduation party, thank-you gifts and the mentoring program, which partners first-year students with second-year students.
The committee consists of 10 members, usually one person from each study group. Most activities and the majority of the work will take place during the second semester of your first year, but a one-time collection of funds happens during the first semester. Historically, classes have collected $150-$200 per student to fund the activities for the two years.
Executive MBA Entrepreneur Board of Advisors
This group is open to all Executive MBA students. Members of this group serve as a board of advisors to EMBA students that run businesses, or are in the process of starting a business. The board of advisors will meet to share business expertise, help solve business challenges, and help each other create actionable strategic plans.
McCombs Admissions Committee
The McCombs Admissions Committee (MAC) within the Texas MBA Program plays a vital role in providing the admissions staff with a student perspective on the MBA admissions process. MAC members participate in many aspects of MBA admissions including planning and attending recruiting events and serving as a point of contact for prospective applicants. As current students who were recently in your shoes, MAC members are a source of insight into the program for you as a prospective student, and a source of constant feedback for our admissions office to ensure we are addressing your needs as potential applicants and future Texas MBAs. To contact a current MAC member, please email

Using the talent in the class and support of the EMBA administration, participants brainstorm, share contacts, and collectively strategize to achieve professional goals. Events hosted by Horns Advocates include: Speed Networking, Brainstorming Career, Hiring a Headhunter, New Business Ideas/Start-ups, Changing Industries/Jobs and Resume Reviews.
