Texas MBA Diversity Forum

November 4th & 5th, 2016

The Diversity Forum is open to all prospective students with a commitment to diversity in business. Whether you are looking to advance your current career or make a career change, discover how the Texas Full-Time MBA Program can unlock your potential and help you develop as a business leader.

Participants will have the opportunity to network with current students and alumni from all backgrounds, and meet McCombs faculty and staff. You will also attend info sessions about program curriculum, career planning, student community, experiential learning, and life in Austin, Texas.

Due to space constraints, participation is by application only. Applications will be reviewed and decisions will be released on a rolling basis. We encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible as decisions will be released on a first come, first served basis. Complimentary hotel rooms are limited and will fill quickly.

Travel & Logistics

If you're selected to attend the Texas MBA Diversity Forum, below is some helpful information for planning your trip to Austin. Be on the look-out for more details coming soon.

Official Start & End of the Event


The official event starts at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 4, 2016 with a welcome reception. The event officially closes at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2016.

Hotel Accommodations

The hotel is located across the highway from campus and is about a 20 minute walk or short cab ride away from the McCombs School of Business, where the Diversity Forum events will be held. More information about the hotel can be found here.

The Texas MBA Program is pleased to cover the cost of your stay on Friday night. You will check in on Friday, November 4 and check out on Saturday, November 5. Check-in begins at 3:00 p.m. and check-out is at 12:00 p.m. You will be paired with a roommate while attending the Diversity Forum. All incidentals are the responsibility of the guest. If you plan to check out on Saturday, you are welcome to bring your luggage to McCombs and we'll store it for you throughout the day.

If you would like to stay at the DoubleTree Hotel on the nights of Thursday, November 3, or Saturday, November 5, a block of rooms has been reserved under the name "Texas MBA Diversity Forum." If you are interested, please call the DoubleTree Hotel at 512-479-4000 to reserve rooms for either Thursday or Saturday night at our $259/night rate.

Transportation


The University of Texas campus is located approximately 12 miles (20-30 minutes) from the Austin Bergstrom International Airport. Taxis are readily available at the airport and will cost about $25 to get from the airport to the UT Austin campus. Taxis are also available at the DoubleTree Hotel for transportation back to the airport. Travel and transportation expenses are not covered.

Please note: Due to a recent city ordinance, Uber and Lyft are currently unavailable within the Austin city limits.

There will be no off-campus events during this Diversity Forum, however, if you prefer to have your own mode of transportation during your stay in Austin, here is a list of rental car companies at the Austin airport.

Parking

If you drive to campus, we recommend parking in the Brazos Garage, which is located at the corner of Martin Luther King Jr Blvd. and Brazos St. Day parking (8-24 hours) at Brazos Garage costs $18.

Cancellation


If you can no longer attend the Diversity Forum, please email Diversity@mccombs.utexas.edu and let us know as soon as possible so we can offer your spot to another applicant.

Dress Recommendation


Forum session dress is business casual attire. Evening and social events are Austin casual! Austin weather can be unpredictable in the fall, but around mid November it is light jacket weather.
