Military prospective MBA students are strongly encouraged to attend this exclusive event showcasing all that the Texas MBA program has to offer through info sessions about curriculum, career planning, student community, experiential learning and life in Austin, Texas. Discover how the Texas MBA program can unlock your potential and help you develop as a business leader in your current or future career. In addition to the main event programming on December 5, there will also be optional programming on Friday, December 4. Please see the event agenda for more information.

Texas MBA Student Nicholas SattlerNicholas Sattler, MBA '17

MBA Concentration: Operations Management

Nick is from Indianapolis and graduated from Indiana University in 2007. He served 8 years in the Army as an Air Defense Artillery Officer, conducting missile defense operations in three countries. Most recently, he managed the Army’s rapid response capability for Central and South America, as well as the Caribbean. 

Blake Williamson, MBA '16

MBA Concentration: Business Analytics
Student Organizations: Armed Forces Alumni Association; Graduate Marketing Network; McCombs Admissions Committee; Graduate Student Assembly

Blake is from Dallas, TX and graduated from Wheaton College (IL) in 2009. He served as an Intelligence Officer in the United States Air Force at Fort Gordon, GA and Kabul, Afghanistan. He is currently a reservist at the Joint Information Operations Warfare Center (JIOWC) in San Antonio, TX. He works at Intel Corporation within their Global Supply Management (GSM) organization.  He will spend his last semester at Cape Town Graduate School of Business in Cape Town, South Africa.

Travel & Logistics

If you are selected to attend the Texas MBA Military Forum, below you'll find some helpful information for planning your trip to Austin.

Official Start & End of the Event

Official event sessions will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 5, 2015. We also have several other events planned outside of this time frame that are optional.

Optional Days & Events 

Class Visits (Thursday, December 3rd or Monday, December 7th)

Experience the dynamic Texas MBA classroom environment. Please arrive 15 minutes early to meet your Class Visit Student Host in the Big Bend Conference Room, MBA Program Office in the McCombs School of Business before going to your class. Class visit registration will open in late October

Welcome Reception (Friday, December 4th)
Join your Texas MBA Military Forum Co-chairs for a welcome reception hosted by the Texas MBA program. Mix and mingle with Texas MBA current students, staff, and special guests at the Tejas Café of the AT&T Executive Education & Conference Center.

Evening in Downtown Austin (Friday, December 4th)
Experience a Friday night out in Austin with current MBA veteran students (Location: TBD. Not a UT-sponsored event)

Hotel Accommodations

The hotel is located directly on campus and is about a five-minute walk from the McCombs School of Business, where the Military Forum events will be held. More information about the hotel can be found at


The MBA program is pleased to cover the cost of your stay on Friday night. You will check in on Friday, December 4 and check out on Saturday, December 5. Check-in begins at 3:00 p.m. and check-out is at 11:00 a.m. Should you choose to check out on Saturday, please feel free to bring your luggage to the business school where we'll gladly store it for you throughout the day. 


You will be paired with a roommate also attending the Military Forum. All incidentals are the responsibility of the guest. If you would like to stay at the AT&T Center on the nights of Thursday, December 3, or Saturday, December 5, a block of rooms has been reserved under the name “Texas MBA Military Forum.” You must indicate this on your event registration form.


The University of Texas at Austin campus is located approximately 12 miles (20-30 minutes) from the Austin Bergstrom International Airport. Taxis are readily available at the airport and will cost about $25 to get from the airport to the UT Austin campus. Taxis are also available at the AT&T Center for transportation back to the airport. Travel and transportation expenses are not covered.

There will be no off-campus events during this Military Forum, however, if you prefer to have your own mode of transportation during your stay in Austin, here is a list of  rental car companies at the Austin airport. Please note that the cost of parking is not covered at the AT&T Center and is the responsibility of the guest.


If you drive to campus and are staying at the AT&T Center, we recommend parking in the AT&T Conference Center Garage, which is located directly underneath the hotel. Overnight guests of the hotel may obtain a parking card at the front desk for garage parking at $18 per night. Valet parking is $15 per visit or $23 overnight, plus tax. 

If you're driving to campus but not staying at the AT&T Center, you can also park in the Brazos Garage, which is located at the corner of Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Brazos. Day parking (8 - 24 hours) at Brazos Garage costs $18.

If you can no longer attend the Military Forum, please email and let us know as soon as possible so we can offer your spot to another applicant.

Dress Recommendation

Forum session dress is business casual attire. Evening and social events are Austin casual! Austin weather can be unpredictable in the winter, but early-December is generally jacket weather.
