Jon Brumley Texas Venture Labs
Jon Brumley Texas Venture Labs (TVL) at The University of Texas at Austin is a campus-wide initiative with two missions:
- To accelerate start-ups from the UT System and Central Texas looking to raise capital and take their innovations to market
- To transform graduate students at The University of Texas at Austin into future entrepreneurs and business leaders
TVL operates three initiatives, the TVL Accelerator, the Venture Labs Investment Competition, and New Venture Creation to make our mission a reality.
TVL Accelerator
Every semester we recruit 25-35 students and 10 to 12 companies to join the TVL Accelerator program. We work with start-ups from a range of industries and graduate students from every discipline at The University of Texas at Austin. We begin recruiting for students and companies in October and February.
Venture Labs Investment Competition
TVL is home to the Venture Labs Investment Competition (formerly Moot Corp). It's been dubbed the "Super Bowl of Investment Competitions," and features 40 teams who gain eligibility by winning a regional new venture competition in the U.S. or internationally. The teams hail from over a dozen countries, including the U.S., Thailand, Norway and Brazil, and compete over two days to determine the Global Champion.
New Venture Creation
For students who are interested in pursuing their own start-up ideas, New Venture Creation (NVC) offers the ideal environment. Over the course of either one or two semesters you will research and refine your business idea prior to launch. Since 2005, nearly 1,200 students have completed the program. NVC students regularly compete in the Venture Labs Investment Competition.
