McCombs Email Services
Computer Services maintains an Exchange email system for the faculty staff and students of the business school. This system provides email, individual and group calendars, and a school-wide directory in addition to other features.
Email services are available to individuals and departments, with special services available for faculty and departments. The email system runs in a highly-available cluster environment and is backed-up daily. Faculty and staff receive 200MB mailboxes while students receive 100MB.
This system is maintained by the Server Team and is administered by the Exchange Administration Team. The best way to reach our Exchange administrators is via email. They can be reached at ExchAdmins@mccombs.utexas.edu or just look for Exchange Administrators in the Global Address List.
Outlook Web Access
Outlook Web Access (OWA) is an online version of Outlook that provides easy and reliable access to email and all the other functions of our Exchange server.
If you are using a public computer, like at a computer lab, you should ensure that the Public Computer option is selected when logging on to OWA. Using the Personal Computer option will allow a longer period of inactivity before logging you off. Likewise, the Basic connection will provide fewer features than the premium client but offers faster performance. Use the basic client if you're on a slow connection.
Lifetime E-Mail Forwarding
Students who graduate from the McCombs School of Business can still receive messages sent to their Business School email address by using Lifetime Email Forwarding. With this service, any mail that is sent to your School of Business account will automatically be forwarded to another email address that you supply. You don't have to send messages to everyone you know or make them update your email address! If you change email addresses several times after graduation you can keep updating your forwarding address online and never miss a message.
Starting Lifetime Email Forwarding is a simple, two-step process. First, you will need to have an email address that you will use and access after leaving the School of Business. If you need a temporary address while you transition to life after school, consider one of the free, internet-based email services.
The second step is to visit the McCombs Online Resources (MOR) website and enable Lifetime Email Forwarding.
Blackberry Enterprise Server
Faculty and staff can have their McCombs email sent to their Blackberry device by using our Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES). For compatible devices, using the BES allows you to sync email, contacts, calendar and to-do lists without ever having to connect to your PC. Due to licensing requirements, some restrictions apply to this service. Contact the Exchange Administrators for more information about this service.
At this time Blackberry services are not available for students.
