Dr. Junker is a lecturer in the Department of Advertising and Public Relations and director of the Senior Fellows Honors Program of the Moody College of Communication. He has won the Teaching Excellence Award for the Moody College and is a finalist for this year’s university-wide Regent’s Teaching Award.

Dr. Junker teaches writing courses for public relations majors and developed the PR writing curriculum to emphasize journalistic-style writing practices and applied storytelling in multimedia forms. He also teaches a popular interdisciplinary elective on pop music and social advocacy and leads a regular study-abroad course in Dublin, Ireland. His service-learning classes have worked with more than 30 local nonprofits to help them tell their stories using traditional and new media. He publishes a biannual alumni newsletter for the Senior Fellows Honors program and is a regular contributor to the writing issue of Public Relations Tactics, the monthly publication of the Public Relations Society of America. For the past five years, he has been faculty advisor for the campus chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America and its student-led firm Texas Tower PR.

Prior to teaching, Junker was a musician and music publicist, a writer for community newspapers, and a regular contributor to the national satirical newspaper The Onion, including the best-selling books Our Dumb Century and The Onion's Finest News Reporting. In his spare time, he likes playing guitar and making up songs for his kids.
