The Texas Executive MBA program consists of four seminars. These seminars are a central feature of the program that provide students with a solid foundation for their studies, an opportunity to establish cohesive relationships with their fellow classmates and a global experience to expose students with international business practices.

Executive Seminar I

Texas Executive MBA students kick off their coursework with the first executive seminar, preceding the fall semester of their first year. The week is spent introducing students to their classmates, professors, the dean and the state-of-the-art McCombs facilities and resources, including the technology and career services teams. The seminar provides a framework for the intensive study of financial accounting, statistics and decision analysis, and leading people and organizations. Students participate in an executive challenge, meet their cohorts and learn about high-performance teams.

Executive Seminar II

Students conclude the first-year of their MBA curriculum with the second executive seminar. This three day seminar is focused on the examination of business problems and strategies, giving students an opportunity to integrate the skills gained in their first year. Sessions include “Building Advocacy Skills,” “Corporate Social Responsibility and Stakeholder Relations,” and “Organizations and Media.”

Executive Seminar III

The third executive seminar kicks off the second year of the Texas Executive MBA curriculum, preceding the third semester of coursework. This seminar introduces the topics of marketing, financial statement analysis, managerial accounting and operations management. The seminar commences with a fun executive team building activity to reconnect the students with their classmates after their summer break.

International Seminar

The final seminar is held at an international location such as Beijing, China. This unique seminar provides students with an exploration of and an in-depth exposure to competitive approaches and business practices in dynamic areas of the global economy. The class is immersed in the culture of the destination in which they study, enjoying the food, exploring interesting sites and participating in cultural activities.
