    Cohort Experience

The collaborative and engaged student culture of the MBA program at Texas McCombs is by design. Before your first day, you’ll be placed into a Cohort –a group of MBA peers with whom you’ll navigate the curriculum. The cohort model fosters a shared experience among students and open dialogue within the classroom.

    Study Teams

Within your cohort, you’ll be matched up with a Study Team of 4 to 6 other students in your first year, each of whom bring different backgrounds and strengths to the group. You’ll work together and learn from each other as you tackle class assignments and business challenges.
  • 1st Semester Residency

Bonding with your classmates is an invaluable part of the MBA experience. That’s why the program includes a Residency component, in which you’ll stay in Houston at Hotel ZaZa on class weekends during the first semester. The Residency cuts down on commute time, fosters a more immersive environment, and creates additional networking opportunities for students and faculty.

Consulting Club

The Consulting Club’s mission is to connect and support classmates who share an interest in consulting careers (a student does not have to be currently employed as a consultant to join). It provides a platform for understanding the consulting career lifestyle through panel discussions and the alumni network within management consulting firms. The group also hosts company info sessions and provides opportunities for case interview preparation.

Entrepreneurship Club

The EntrepreneurshipClub welcomes all budding entrepreneurs, those working in startups, and those interested in investing in startups. Club activities include the creation of business plans, brainstorming ideas, creation of special interest groups and inviting key speakers who have started or funded small businesses to provide their perspectives. The club's focus is to provide valuable knowledge in succeeding in today's entrepreneurial world as well as a supportive network of like-minded people. Every idea, big or small, is always welcome.

Graduate Business Council

The Graduate Business Council (GBC) provides a forum for student leaders to work directly with program leadership to oversee the development, improvement, and maintenance of a strong sense of community and pride within the Houston MBA program. Additionally, the GBC serves to promote diversity and inclusivity within the Texas MBA programs. The GBC should cultivate the values of community, philanthropy, and legacy. The GBC is the student government for all students enrolled in the MBA at Houston program.

Graduate Women in Business

Graduate Women in Business (GWiB) strives to provide an atmosphere conducive to the professional and personal development of its members. GWIB's goals include: improving the visibility of women in the McCombs School of Business, offering career development resources to its members, providing opportunities for its members to enhance the skills they need to remain competitive in the marketplace, connecting members to news stories and articles related to women's issues in the workplace, acting as an informational resource for prospective McCombs students, and promoting a spirit of camaraderie among our members and women in the business community in a variety of social settings and events.

Investment Club

The Investment Club was incorporated in 2011 as a Texas LP named the Bevo Capital Group. Members contribute monthly to the general funds of the company which formulates and executes investments and trading strategies according to approved proposals. Members are encouraged to collaborate and share their insight and knowledge on multiple industries and market sectors. In addition to core investment strategies, the club focuses on trading strategies including protective stops, hedging, and complex option spreads. The club is intended to provide members with a deep and meaningful experience in trading and investment which will be valuable in future personal and professional market endeavors.
