Economics to MPA: ECON-MPA Path

Graduate Select Admission is a program at The University of Texas at Austin which enables outstanding undergraduates to complete twelve hours of graduate coursework in their senior year and reserve them toward a graduate degree. Through the Graduate Select Admission Program, students in the ECON-MPA path earn a B.A. degree in Economics and a Master in Professional Accounting (MPA) degree from The University of Texas at Austin. Benefits of the ECON-MPA path include, but are not limited to:

  • Waiver of the application and transcript fees associated with graduate school admissions
  • Waiver of the GMAT score requirement
  • Reduction in the length of time to the MPA degree through the reservation of graduate courses for graduate credit
  • Payment of the reserved graduate accounting credit at undergraduate tuition rates

In the ECON-MPA path, economics majors at UT-Austin are admitted to the MPA program in a two-stage process:

  1. Application for Graduate Select Admission
  2. Graduate Standing
