We host a series of pre-departure sessions intended to prepare our students for their upcoming summer. Both the UT faculty and international program staff lead the sessions. Topics include useful logistical information about the city, school, courses, culture, language, and much more!
Breakfast, Lunch and Coffee will be provided.
- BBA SIP Pre-Departure Orientation: 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013
- MPA SIP Pre-departure Orientation: 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013
When you arrive in the host-city, you'll be greeted by a McCombs staff member, known as the cultural liaison. This person will be available full-time throughout the duration of the program, and will coordinate group activities and cultural excursions. The liaison is usually a UT graduate student, and is knowledgeable on the language, city and culture of the host country. They will live on-site, and be available to assist the students with any questions or concerns. The liaison always carries a local cell phone and is easily reached for emergencies. The liaison remains in close contact with us throughout the trip, and serves as the primary connection between the International Programs Office and the students.
We strongly believe in the impact of international travel on future intercultural communication skills. It's crucial in today's increasingly interconnected world. Our international summer programs feature a component designed to help students make the most of the five-week program. We will facilitate further cultural investigation beyond the classes and excursions.
Returning students will participate in a re-entry session where they will receive information on staying involved with international education, and guidance on how to leverage their international experience during recruitment.
