Registration for 2012-2013 is closed.
Registration for 2013-2014 will open in September.

The MSTC Admissions Committee reviews applications on an individual basis looking at all aspects of the applicant's professional and academic background. The committee seeks to assess an individual's passion for technology commercialization and/or entrepreneurship.

The Texas MSTC admissions committee carefully considers each completed application, with particular attention to personal essays, work history, post-MSTC goals, undergraduate performance, letters of recommendation and test scores. All of these components are considered holistically; no specific weight is assigned to any criterion and no formulas are used.

Please carefully review the Application Instructions before proceeding with your Texas MSTC application. It is extremely important to use the same version/format/spelling of your official name throughout the application process. The Texas MSTC application consists of:

  • Test Score Submission
  • Items that must be submitted to the University of Texas at Austin – Graduate and International Admissions Center (GIAC) - for transcripts, etc.
  • The online application - for personal data, essays, letters of recommendation, etc.
  • Interview (by invitation only)

Applications must be complete

We cannot begin to review an application until all parts have been received, processed and declared official by the Graduate and International Admissions office (GIAC). The minimum requirements for the admissions office to render a decision include submission of the online application, payment of the application fee, submission of transcripts and an official GMAT or GRE.

Throughout most of the admission cycle the applicant will also need to submit a resume, essays, and two (2) letters of recommendation in order to be competitive with other applicants. We will review applications in which all documents are submitted prior to reviewing those applications in which one or more pieces were not included.

In addition, international students will need to submit an official TOEFL score from ETS. If admitted, the certificate of Financial Responsibility form must be submitted to the International office; this can also be submitted at the time of application to simplify the process.

Interview

Interviews are by invitation only. Applicants selected for an interview will receive an invitation by email at any time from the point of file completion until the end of the review process.  MSTC interviews are conducted in person or over the phone by an MSTC Admissions Committee member.  The MSTC Program office will contact you to schedule an interview if one is needed.

Status check

All applications to the Texas MSTC Program undergo a two-part process. The Graduate and International Admissions Center (GIAC) handles the processing of your transcripts, test scores and visa/permanent residence information (if applicable), and the Texas MSTC Admissions Committee conducts the application review and administers a decision.

MSTC Application Status Check: Please remember to monitor the progress of your submitted Texas MSTC application through the application status here.

GIAC Status Check: Monitor the receipt of your official transcripts and official test scores and the copy of your Green Card by checking the University of Texas status page.

Use your UT EID and password to check whether these items have been received by the GIAC. If any of these items show as outstanding or not received, your application decision will be delayed. The GIAC status check should be used exclusively for these three items. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that all required credentials are received. All other components of your application and final decision should be monitored at the McCombs Status Check.
