The mission of the MSTC Program is to combine cutting-edge technology, entrepreneurship and education to bridge the gap between ideas and needs in the marketplace resulting in the creation of new, innovative ventures.

One Year:  23 Weekends & 3 Intensive Weeks

The MSTC Program begins with May Launch Week in Austin, Texas and concludes with graduation in May of the following year. Classes meet on alternate weekends:  Fridays from 4-8 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m.-6:00 p.m. The blended learning environment of the MSTC Program offers students flexibility in creating their schedule while continuing to work full time. Each term begins with an “intensive week.” The first term begins with May Launch Week and includes sessions on becoming high performance teams, two classes of each of the three first term courses and opportunities for analyzing the ventures competing in the Venture Labs Investment Competition. The second term begins with an intensive week in August that jump starts the fall semester with the first three classes of each of the three courses. The third term begins with an intensive week in January that involves an international trip. This week will focus on technology transfer within an international context as well as launch each of the four remaining courses.

Real Technologies

The MSTC curriculum is about action-based learning. Rather than focusing on business case studies and hypothetical exercises, students work with actual technologies and innovations. Most assignments are completed in small teams of students who collaboratively develop market strategies and business plans for truly original technologies throughout the year. The program culminates when student teams formally present their final technology commercialization plan before a panel of faculty, industry leaders and venture capitalists. Several technologies have evolved into subsequent successful commercial ventures for MSTC graduates.

In Class or Online

Participants may choose to attend classes in Austin or via video webcast,.  Online classes are available on video archives for the occasional missed class.  Candidates may complete their degree without ever attending the weekend classes in Austin, but are required to attend May Launch Week and the International Trip. All classes are online globally, so students may participate from anywhere in the world they can access a broadband connection. As classes are archived online after the live session, participants may watch the lectures later if they are unable to make the live class or desire review.
