Capabilities: VHS, CD, DVD, Aux. A/V inputs, Microphone input, Computer Projection.

Control: All media in the room is controlled by a touch panel located to your right in the desk surface.
Laptop: Your laptop may be connected on the left side of the desktop, the connections are under a flap. Push the flap on the left side down, and you have access to a VGA (video) cable, network connectivity, a power plug and a network (Ethernet) jack. Except for VGA, you will have to bring your own cables, Media Services has them available at the checkout counter or you/your department may purchase them there at cost.
NOTE: Before using any application that accesses the University network through either a public Ethernet or wireless port, you must first open an internet browser application and login to the page that you are automatically directed to with your UTEID. Video (VHS): The VHS player is located in the left leg of the desk; insert the tape with the label facing away from you.
CD/DVD: The CD/DVD player is located in the left desk leg below the VCR; insert your disk with the label facing away from you.

Where are my buttons? – On the right side you have a black screen with a golden frame, touch the screen and it will turn on.

 

I want a lectern, not a desk! – On the touch screen push Room and Lectern up until desired height is reached.
I want a desk, not a lectern! – On the touch screen push Room and Lectern down until the desired level is reached.

General description of Control Panel
The panel consists of three sections - left, center and right. On the left you select what you want to use and on the right you have screen and volume controls at all times. In the center section the layout changes to the selection you last made and shows the relative controls for that selection. If you want to play a CD while you project your PC, you may do so by starting the projection and than switch to CD to control the player.

The lectern height controls are in the room section.

If the Control Panel on the right is dark, touch it to activate the controls.
 

Main Lights – Three zones, push High, Medium or Low for desired level, or Off.
Spot Lights – You can adjust the level with the up and down arrows. The ON/OFF button toggles the lights on and off, when you turn them on they go back to the last level that they had been set to.
Mic – if you use an external microphone (Mic), this lets you adjust the sensitivity. Currently we advise against the use of a microphone for technical reasons, except for recording purposes.
Screen – lowers and raises the overhead projection screens from the ceiling, push the arrows for adjustment.
Lectern – convert the lectern to a desk and back again, push the arrows for adjustment.
Volume – adjusts the overall presentation volume, push the arrows for adjustment.
PC Projection – Plug in your PC at the access panel (on the left) and push PC and Projector ON at the control panel on the right. "Projector is starting up" may appear if there is a delay in the projector starting up, be patient, the display will clear when the projector is ready and turn it on automatically.
Blank - this button blanks the screen from the students, so you can use an overhead projector or the white boards.
Student Network OFF - this button disables the desktop jacks for laptops on the student desks. appears on top of panel.

Computer video (VGA) cable is provided, for network, audio and power you will have to bring your own cables.

Video Projection – Press VCR, and insert your tape into the VCR to your left, label facing away from you; press Projector ON. Use the touch-screen controls to operate the VCR.

 

Auxiliary – For Camera, laser disk other video formats, connect your player or camera to the front of the lectern below the VCR, press AUX and Projector ON. Use the on-screen controls to operate the built-in VCR if you want to record.
DVD – Press DVD and insert the disk into the player, label facing away from you; press Projector ON. The DVD can take up to a minute to load so please be patient. When the projector is on it will show a DVD logo and the status of the DVD player when you press it's function keys.
Error explanations:
Hand Icon - Means the DVD player accepted the command that you issued, but the DVD does not allow it's execution. (e.g. trying to skip the FBI warning on the video)
No Disk - DVD player cannot recognize the disk. Eject the DVD and re-insert.
CD – Press CD and insert the CD into the player label facing away from you; the CD can take up to a minute to load so please be patient. Press Play and adjust the Volume as necessary.

If you want to play a CD while projecting PC or video, select CD after you selected the picture source, to enable sound from the CD.
