About BGBA

The purpose of the BGBA is provide a nexus through fellowship to broaden, enhance and promote the successful future of its membership. We are a professional organization of predominately African-American students pursuing a Masters of Business Administration, MPA or other advanced business degrees at The University of Texas at Austin.

Our objectives include:

Serve as a social and cultural base for our members and other students with shared interests
Assist members with career planning through business-oriented activities
Promote greater student interaction with faculty members, corporate representatives, professional organizations, and the community-at-large by sponsoring and participating in business oriented activities
Foster and support minority students by providing professional and academic advising and counseling through the establishment of a formal network
Act as role models throughout the university and the Austin community
Assist the university administration in recruiting and retaining minority students in all graduate degree programs

Faculty Advisor - John Doggett

Doggett

John N. Doggett is a senior lecturer in the Department of Management. He received his B.A. from Claremont Men’s College, his J.D. from Yale Law School and his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. His research and teaching interests include international entrepreneurship, global competition and Sustainability and Energy. Since 1999, Professor Doggett has spent part of each summer and winter teaching courses on entrepreneurship and global competition in Austria, China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand. Since the spring of 2003, Professor Doggett has led MBA students on annual two-week observation tours of the People's Republic of China and India.
