For every new social media account, you'll want to create a unique profile. When followers visit your page, it should convey the look and feel you think best represents McCombs. Make it visually appealing and fun! No black-on-black or drab images.
Edit Your Profile
- Click on the silhouette button at the top of the screen, which will open your profile.
- By clicking Edit Your Profile (a button located on the right-hand column), you can:
- Change your account name, location, the website your account links to, and your bio. Make sure your Twitter bio mentions your department AND McCombs. It's important to take advantage of the broader McCombs network. Handy!
- Though you can choose to have each of your tweets automatically posted to your Facebook page, we DO NOT recommend it. Each of your social media accounts should have a unique voice and we don't want to confuse the audience. You'll see that using Spredfast makes it super easy to maintain each voice and each account from one place.
Set Up Alerts
The Email Notifications button (accessible through the right-hand column) lets you control when you receive email updates (e.g. when your tweets are retweeted, or someone new follows you, etc.). This is something you will learn to set up in Spredfast. Using Spredfast as your hub will make life on Twitter a snap!
In the same column, you can customize the look of your account by clicking on Design and then clicking Choose File to upload a photo, which will serve as your background.
Matching the look of your Twitter profile to your website helps visitors and followers associate your site to what you post on Twitter. If you need help with properly branded images for your Twitter, get in touch with our brand experts in the Communications Department.
