A Letter From the Chair

Director

Dear MBA Alumni,

The McCombs School of Business has a new dean with an excellent track record and a reinvigorated focus on achieving the goal to become the most prominent business school in the world.

I am excited to tell you that Dean Thomas Gilligan believes that the alumni base will play an important role in reaching that goal. With 35 chapters and more than 16,000 graduate alumni worldwide, we have one of the largest and most distinguished alumni communities in the country. Excitingly, we have only begun to scratch the surface as it relates to the ultimate value proposition of our network.

Over the last year, we took a large step forward by combining all of the MBA program alumni networks into one MBA network, with official board representation from the full-time Texas MBA, the Texas Executive MBA, the Texas MBA at Houston, the Texas MBA at Dallas/Fort Worth, the Texas MBA at Mexico City and the Texas Evening MBA.

This level of involvement across all of the McCombs MBA programs creates an opportunity for us to break the mold on how we operate as a network. The next phase of our evolution is into a chapter-focused network that we hope will foster even more alumni involvement and increase the value proposition of our network, making it a resource for information and industry expertise in addition to career advice.

I would like to personally thank all alumni volunteers—past, present and future—for advancing our alumni network and our school toward a higher national profile. Although we have many active and involved alumni, there are still opportunities to contribute:

If you’d like to join the alumni working to make the business school the leader among its public university counterparts, please contact Jennie Loev or me. It’s a great opportunity to make an impact and help increase the value of your MBA at the same time.

Sincerely,
Jason Downie, MBA’99
