Chicago Alumni Network Chapter Profile

Welcome to the Chicago McCombs Alumni Network Chapter!

More than 300 McCombs MBA alumni have chosen to brave harsh winters and settle in Chicago, pursuing a diverse array of professions including management consulting, finance and brand management. Chicago-area employers, such as Discover Financial Services, Miller Coors, BP Amoco and Accenture, offer great opportunities to alumni, bringing dozens of recent graduates to Chicago every year.

The Chicago chapter is growing rapidly in attendance, offering excellent networking, social and educational opportunities. The chapter’s growth has accelerated recently as we have opened our doors to the BBA and MPA alumni groups, a population of more than 700 McCombs professionals.

Our 2008 events were a great success—beginning with Professor Sandy Leeds’ spring presentation on the financial market collapse, followed by a festive summer reception at a Chicago rooftop garden and closing with the lively winter reception at the Hotel Allegro that gave local alumni an opportunity to meet Dean Thomas Gilligan. In addition to these events, local alumni frequently congregate to watch the Longhorn football and basketball teams at the Brownstone Tavern, a popular gathering place for Texas alumni.

The Chicago McCombs Alumni Network Chapter intends to capitalize on this growth and will focus on establishing a formal board this year to conceptualize, plan and execute future events. In addition to the summer and winter receptions, the Chicago chapter plans to host a wine tasting event this spring (details to come!). If you are interested in helping the Chicago chapter continue to grow, please do not hesitate to contact Ellen Bradford Ruschhaupt at ellen.bradford@mba05.mccombs.utexas.edu. Many thanks to all the alumni who have actively supported the chapter and attended recent events. We are very excited about our progress over the years and look forward to a bright future!
