Dedicated Support

Even before you start your first day of school at McCombs, you will already discover that you are surrounded by a dedicated team that is here to help you succeed.

"My advisor has helped me tremendously in finding the right path for me to graduate. With a minor, it could be tough to plan for classes and graduate on time but my advisor helped me work it out." Agustin Yanez, BBA 2011,
Supply Chain Management
"My advisor has provided wonderful academic advising support. He always advised me on which combination of classes each semester would suit me best. He also is the reason that I joined a FIG during my Freshman Year- that was one of the BEST choices that I made throughout my career here. Being in a FIG assisted me in the successful completion of my Freshman Year. Through the FIG, I was able to have an ‘automatic’ study group and my transition to large college classes was much easier because I was able to see a consistent set of friendly faces in each class. I am still friends with many of the students in the FIG after all of these years and several of them have been my connections to various opportunities throughout my time here!"Rochelle Johnson, BBA 2010, Integrated MPA
"I think my academic advisor was crucial to my success in school, getting internships and obtaining a full time job. As soon as I said I knew what kind of job I wanted to do and what major I wanted to graduate with, my advisor essentially had my four-year plan ready to go with the classes I would need (and that were relevant!) for my career aspirations."Karim Hemani, BBA 2009,
BHP/Finance

Advising

One of the first things you will do when you come to orientation is register for classes. You will be assigned a dedicated advisor that will stay with you during your time at McCombs to help you hone in on your interests and goals and ensure you take all the classes needed to declare your major and graduate on time.

"The Office of Student Life is amazing. I’ve been involved with so many different organizations and they have truly equipped me with the tools I needed to become a successful leader and ensured success of all the programs I’ve been involved with."Karim Hemani, BBA 2009, BHP/Finance
“The student life office helped me transition to college life as a freshman. I had an opportunity to meet much of the staff prior to attending UT Austin by completing the McCombs Future Executive Academy (MFEA) program. The staff played a big part in my decision to come to McCombs. Even as a sophomore, the staff checks up on me and always ask how I’m doing and if there is anything I need. They have welcomed me and others with open arms and treat us like family.” Agustin Yanez, BBA 2011,
Supply Chain Management
“The Office of Student Life has been particularly helpful to me because if it hadn't been for the McCombs Future Executive Academy, I wouldn't have realized how great McCombs was and most likely wouldn't be here. Most of the student organizations I am in are because of word-of-mouth, but the student life office is an amazing resource.” Ashley Joseph, BBA 2009, Finance

Consider us the undergraduate multi-purpose group to call on if volunteers, smiling faces, or knowledgeable students about McCombs are needed!" Odile Kane, BBA 2009, BHP/MIS

"The skills we learn here at McCombs are absolutely invaluable/ irreplaceable! When measured against many of my peers from surrounding colleges and universities, the differences are very evident. McCombs Career Training prepared me for the real world. From the etiquette training sessions on how to dress appropriately or which spoon and fork to use at a professional dinner to mock interviews, Career Services’ programs have been highly conducive to my blossoming professionalism over the years. The companies that recruit McCombs students have very high expectations of us due to the extensive preparation that we have. However, for that same reason, we are able to exceed those high expectations."Rochelle Johnson, BBA 2010, Integrated MPA
"The career services office helped me discover the major I now want to pursue. Not only were they very helpful, they were eager to help answer any questions I have. They also have prepared me well for interviews and now, I feel confident going into any interview." Agustin Yanez, BBA 2011,
Supply Chain Management
"We have the best career services department in the country. I don’t think I would have ever been prepared for interviews for internships or full time jobs had it not been for the many programs and resources that they provide us with. There is a wealth of knowledge available and it’s up to us to take advantage of it." Karim Hemani, BBA 2009, BHP/Finance
